True playoff hockey is upon us friends. The field has been narrowed to 16 teams and they are ready to go. The draft lottery has been set and we look forward to throwing down some cash on Alexis Lafreniere next year when he suits up for the Rangers but until then let’s check out the current field and what it has to offer.
Today’s free sleeper pick would not normally be considered a sleeper but because he hasn’t played in a couple months Dougie Hamilton ($6,300) might be the edge you are looking for. Dougie put up 40 points in 47 games before being sidelined and has had a lot of time to heal up. Keep an eye on him and double check before you submit your roster but his coach is hopeful and so are we. Any time that you can get FPS from your defensemen you are on the road to DFS success.
Goaltending DFS Picks For August 11, 2020
Who to put in net is really tough today but that is what we are here for. There are a lot of questions with injuries and goalie tandems. We will see if we can answer some of them for you. Ben Bishop ($7,700) is looking to get the nod to start a Stars deep run this year. He is their number one and said he is ready to go. We expect Dallas to put him front and center for tonight’s tilt. If they do make the switch keep your money on them and put it towards Anton Khudobin ($7,500).
There are savings to be had all over the board tonight and Joonas Korpisalo ($7,000) certainly looks to be undervalued. Korpisalo blanked the Maple Leafs and sent them home without scoring a single goal in a game that meant their season. He is a godsend to this team with Elvis Merzlikins sidelined with an injury. He has a tough assignment with an offensively potent Lightning team but he is dialed in and ready to play.
Center DFS Picks For August 11, 2020
Let’s head back over to the Carolina Hurricanes and check out Sebastian Aho ($6,900). This dude is going to be the league MVP in the next couple seasons. He has weapons on his right and left wing and has a nose for the net. He is priced just right for the points he put up last round.
We have a crazy discounted pick for you next. He is another top line center who scored a hat trick in the play in round and he is going for way less than he deserves. Pierre-Luc DuBois ($4,900) is a total steal. He destroyed the Maple Leafs almost single handedly and will be looking to repeat last year’s upset of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Winger DFS Picks For August 11, 2020
On the other side of the ice from DuBois is Russian machine Nikita Kucherov ($8,000). This dude put up over 128 points two years ago and even in a shortened season managed 85 points. He scores well over a point per game consistently and is worth the extra money.
It looks as though the Vegas Golden Knights are finding their rhythm and we are finally back on board. Expect veteran right winger Mark Stone ($6,700) to keep the foot on the gas. He leaves everything on the ice every game and left as the game winning goal scorer against the Blues in the round robin.
Defencemen DFS Picks For August 11, 2020
If you are looking for a top setup guy on the power play check out Torey Krug ($5,000). He dishes passes and claps bombs when the Bruins are on the man advantage. It’s all opportunity with this guy and he won’t pass up his. We aren’t ready to pay for Victor Hedman ($5,900) yet and will be using that $900 savings on some of our other big guns.
Avoid DFS Picks For August 11, 2020
Aging star Mark Giordano ($6,100) is coming in at a pretty steep price for a guy who has been bumped down to second power play. The Flames captain still has fuel in the tank but we are erring on the side of caution when it comes to fantasy. In his place Erik Gustafsson ($3,800) is worth a look if you need to round out your defense.
Buckle up and get ready for a wild ride. Every game is going to be exciting and worth watching.
