MLB Baseball DFS Advice

We have 13 games on the slate today with the first pitch at 7:05 PM EST. Today’s slate of games is highlighted by Freddie Freeman. and the Los Angeles Dodgers taking on Manny Machado and the San Diego Padres.

You will want to keep an eye on the weather tonight for the Chicago White Sox at Minnesota Twins, Baltimore Orioles at Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres, and the Texas Rangers at Oakland Athletics as there is a 20% chance of rain or better for these games.

Here is a selection of today’s Core Players 50-50 MLB DFS lineup for 4/22/22 (using DraftKings Values)

Michael Kopech ($8,400) – We have largely gotten what we would have expected from Kopech so far this season. He has only given up one run in each of his starts, and he provides high strikeout potential. The only real concern with him is will he go deep enough into the game to get the win, but with him facing a struggling Twins offense today he has a good chance of achieving that.

Ty France ($4,500) – France has been crushing it for the Mariners. He has multi-hit games in four of his last five games including two home runs and a double. His price hasn’t gotten out of hand yet, but if he keeps hitting it will before long.

Cody Bellinger ($3,100) – It seems like every time we give up on Bellinger he comes back and has a great season. He has two multi-hit games in his last three games with two doubles, a triple, and a home run in those three games. His spot in the lineup isn’t ideal, but when he is hitting like this it doesn’t really matter that much.

The Pitchers

Tarik Skubal ($8,600 DK) Skubal is coming off a great start against the Royals where he struck out seven batters in 5.2 innings while giving up just one run. He will face the Rockies today at home and will need to adjust to the changes in pitching outside of altitude.

Julio Urias ($10,100 DK) – After a rough first start, Urias bounced back nicely in his last start. He has lots of upside as he is capable of striking out a lot of batters, and the win potential is always there with the Dodgers.

David Peterson ($9,000 DK) – The play here isn’t so much that Peterson is a stud pitcher, but more than the Diamondbacks’ offense hasn’t been very good. This isn’t to say that Peterson has been bad, he is yet to give up an earned run, but he might be a pitcher that we would shy away from in a different matchup.

The Value Players

Jesús Sánchez ($3,500) – It has been a great start to the season for Sánchez. He has a triple slash of 0.356/0.396/0.667, which is supported by having expected numbers that are very close to the actual numbers. His price is likely to only go up from here so get him in your lineups while you can.

Brendan Marsh ($3,200) – Marsh has hits in three straight games with two doubles, and with the Angels having one of the higher implied run totals today, he could be a solid play at a value price.

Rowdy Tellez ($3,300) – Tellez has hit home runs in back-to-back games and yet his price remains low as the Brewers will go to one of the more hitter-friendly parks in the league in Philadelphia.

The Stacks

New York Yankees – The Yankees won’t come cheap today, but they have the highest implied run total today, and I would be looking to stack Aaron Hicks, Aaron Judge, and Giancarlo Stanton.

Houston Astros – The Astros will likely be a popular stack, but in cash games that is ok. I would look to get Jeremy Peña, Michael Brantley, and then you can choose between Alex Bregman or Yordan Alvarez and have the top of the order with only Bregman or Alvarez being expensive.

Los Angeles Angels – The Angels are a nice spot to look to for value today. You’re going to be able to stack Taylor Ward, with Jared Walsh and Brendan Marsh and have a nice part of the top of the order without spending a large part of your budget.
