Winning DFS Picks for Fantasy Hockey August, 7, 2020

Boone Jenner

It has been a wild week of hockey with upsets and blowouts are around every corner. What time have you had to do research on all your picks with all the exciting action? If the answer is zero don’t you worry. That is what we are here for. We are watching all the games and reading all the stats. We can help you figure out whether to spend on Cale Makar or Quinn Hughes with your limited budget.

Let’s start things off with the free pick of the day. The most shots taken yesterday were from a depth guy on the Blue Jackets. Boone Jenner ($4,200) put five shots on net and came very close to scoring. That is worth more than an assist by itself and almost as much as a goal. Expect him to keep launching the puck at the Toronto Maple Leafs goalie. He is way too cheap where he is at. Use that savings to invest in our top two picks today. We have two goalies who are going to get the job done. Find out who they are behind our paywall ($14.95 per week is our entry level fee).

Goaltending DFS Picks For August 7, 2020

Our top goalie to target today is going to be the owner of the second best goals against average in the league this season. Darcy Kuemper ($7,400) is looking to send the Predators home for the rest of the summer. The Coyotes are swarming right now and do not want to expend any more energy than they need. Look for them to finish the series tonight.

There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding which goalie will start in a lot of tomorrow’s games. If there is one thing we know it is that Carey Price ($7,700) will be the Canadien’s go to guy. He is worth the price and the confidence. Both Mike Smithand Mikko Koskinen will run you $8,000 and there is no immediate guarantee of being the starter.

Center DFS Picks For August 7, 2020

Our hot hand center right now is young gun Elias Pettersson ($6,200). He scored his first career playoff goal yesterday and it won’t be his last. He may be listed as the second line center but he plays like he is the top. The trio of Elias, Brock Boeser, and J.T. Miller is one of the most electric lines in hockey now.

Perhaps look into a package deal with Pettersson and our next pick Jonathan Toews ($5,800). Few players have the pedigree and playoff resume than Captain Serious. You could spend the extra $1,200 on Sidney Crosby but we think you can bet on the guy who scored two goals in his last game against the Edmonton Oilers. Toews knows how to win. Period.

Winger DFS Picks For August 7, 2020

It almost feels like a splurge spending on Mitch Marner ($6,800) with all the value bets today. He is fast, determined, and has a nose for the net. He has not scored nearly enough this series and the puck luck can’t go against him forever. We see him getting on the scoreboard today and getting to celebrate with Auston Matthews as they keep the Columbus Blue Jackets at bay.

Today we are going to go out on a limb and take two wingers from the same team. William Nylander ($6,200) is on the second line with John Tavares and Ilya Mikheyev. These top two lines are among the highest paid in the league and for good reason. Nylander is good friends with Boston Bruins winger David Pastrnak who is another of the league’s top goal scorers. Do you think they may have a little side bet going on who will score more this postseason? Pastrnak isn’t playing today so put your money on Nylander and watch him work his magic.

Defencemen DFS Picks For August 7, 2020

Keep putting your chips on Quinn Hughes ($5,000). It makes no sense why he is so undervalued right now. You could spend another $800 on his teammate Alexander Edler and you would not be wrong in doing so but there is not much to say when there is that much value on the board.

What DFS Picks To Avoid For August 7, 2020

Our goalie picks tonight come with a high price tag. If you want to save a whole salary to afford them it is worth passing on Evgenii Dadonov. On the Panthers it is the Barkov and Huberdeau show. Dadanov may hit the ice but he is unlikely to hit the back of the net. Pass the buck to one of our other picks.

Enjoy the frenzy over the next few days as teams battle to stay in the bubble.
