NHL DFS Picks For October 17, 2021 (Showdown)

Thomas Chabot
OTTAWA, ON - OCTOBER 04: Ottawa Senators Defenceman Thomas Chabot (72) looks on during the pre-game warm up before the NHL preseason game between the Ottawa Senators and the Toronto Maple Leafs on October 4, 2021 at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Our goalies yesterday crushed it. Swayman led the Bruins to a 3-1 win over the Dallas Stars and Mike Smith stopped well over 40 shots to backstop an Edmonton Oilers thrashing of the Calgary Flames. Today’s matchup is between two teams who lost yesterday and both will be looking to pull a win out of the weekend. Since there is just the one matchup we are doing the Showdown style where you pick a captain who gets a bonus multiplier.

Here’s a shiny lineup For DFS Hockey 10/17/21 (using DraftKings Values)

A. Khudobin $17,100

T. Chabot Pinto/Stützle $8,600 ~$6,400

Anton Khudobin is going to be the starter for most of the Dallas Stars season. Their goalie carousel is one of the stranger in the league with Ben Bishop still unready to play, an ageing Braden Holtby who Dobby replaced at the end of last game due to dehydration, and an up and coming Jake Oettinger who deserves the

backup job now. Khudobin is the guy, especially if Brady Tkachuk does not suit up tonight.

While we think the Stars will emerge victorious tonight, there are players from the Sens worth picking up. Thomas Chabot is one of those guys we lo e to grab for peripherals. He blocks shots and even takes a couple. Add on a chunk of top power play time and this guy will round out your lineup.

Consider tossing one of Shane Pinto or Tim Stützle on your squad. Pinto surprised everyone by making the team out of camp and Stützle wowed everyone last year in his rookie campaign. They will be part of the Senators core moving forward that is going to be a real thorn in the side of this league.

Before we jump into the big boys we wanted to highlight our cheapo $2,000 pick. Jacob Peterson was drafted late in 2017 and spent the next few years honing his craft in the Swedish league. Last year he had 33 points in 46 games in a league that

Now what do you get if you sign up now?

• The Dallas forwards who are going to slap Ottawa around
• A young Swedish player getting his first reps in the NHL after a solid few seasons in the SHL
• All access to our entire site for an entire year for only $199

is hard to score in. He slots in next to Roope Hintz on the second line and will be looking to make an immediate impact.

The biggest decision to make today is likely between Roope Hintz and Tyler Seguin. Seguin is the Stars number one guy, but the performance Hintz had last year while Seguin was out AND while playing through a gnarly injury is worth considering. We like the stack with the new guy we pointed out, but Seguin does have the overall better weapons at his disposal.

To round out your lineup today we have two very different options. On one hand you can take Esa Lindell who is a stalwart defenseman who out up five shots yesterday. Drake Batherson is a young gun on the Sens top line and he is just Tkachuk-lite. You won’t get to count his hits but he will be noticeable in this game.

The weekend is wrapping up and the new week is approaching. We hope you got some chill time and enjoyed yourself. Come find us on Twitter (@FantasyDFSX) and have a great rest of your Sunday.
