We just cannot quit the Tampa Bay Lightning. It feels like yesterday we were posting a very similar lineup. They lost the third line of talent but their top two stays intact and are going to be doing as much damage as soon as possible. We are gifting you Brayden Point who got his bag this summer. He only makes $6.5M this year but starting next season he will be paid a king’s ransom of $9.5M for the foreseeable future.
There is a big coin flip here when choosing between Nikita Kucherov and Victor Hedman. Hedman is significantly cheaper and acts like a forward when it comes to offensive output. On the other hand, Kucherov may challenge Connor McDavid for the scoring title. McDavid is still hands-down the best player in the world but Kucherov will always be making a case for himself.
Our utility guy today is someone who we liked all year last year and is moving along his development path nicely. We expect this 24-year-old to take another step this year and solidify himself as a force to be reckoned with in the NHL.

You know you want at least one of Mark Stone or Max Pacioretty. This dynamic duo absolutely crushes it on the regular. Pacioretty is a big body who is aggressive and unafraid of anything. Mark Stone is a tenacious dude with silky smooth mitts. Together they look to be close to point-per-game players this year as Vegas looks to avenge their early exit to the Montreal Canadiens.
Kasperi Kapanen is going to be an interesting play this season. He has matured his game quite a bit but Pittsburgh is without their top two centers to start the season. We are lukewarm on Evan Rodrigues who is now 28 and has never been a huge contributor. Kapanen can drive his own offence though and will see time on the power play. Do not count him out. If you want a slightly higher chance of a center boosting a winger then spend the extra $200 and head to Seattle. Jaden Schwartz decided to join the fledgling expansion team during free agency and is on the top line. Topline here is not the same as other teams for the time being but, hey, he will get minutes and he has always been a solid producer.
Our discount pick of the day is Anthony Cirelli. One of his linemates is Steven Stamkos, you might have heard of him. Cirelli is surprisingly cheap for such a high ceiling. Let’s see if he can take the step forward we know he is capable of.
