NHL DFS Picks For May 4, 2021

Connor McDavid + Leon Draisaitl
CALGARY, AB - MARCH 15: Edmonton Oilers Left Wing Leon Draisaitl (29) and Edmonton Oilers Center Connor McDavid (97) talk between whistles during the third period of an NHL game where the Calgary Flames hosted the Edmonton Oilers on March 15, 2021, at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, AB. What a wild night of hockey. We needed a cigarette after that one. There were a handful more eliminations and clinching of playoff spots. If there are any of those scenarios today it is because of some weird math that finally knocks someone out. Everyone playing today already knows whether they are in or not. We will be focusing on McJesus’ game for somewhat obvious reasons and the point total he is trying to get. We also like the New York Islanders over the Buffalo Sabres. Past that we just have a few interesting guys we want to get in one last time before the post-season is upon us.

Here’s a high caliber lineup For DFS Hockey 5/4/21 (using DraftKings Values)

CenterC. McDavid$9,200
Center
WingL. Draisaitl$7,600
Wing
Wing
Defense
DefenseW. Kalynuk$3,700
GoalieS. Varlamov$8,500
Utility $4,800

Connor McDavid is the only horse in this race but he is determined to win. He needs nine points in six games to hit 100 points. That is very doable for him. There is not much else we can do but sit here and watch in amazement. It’s McDavid’s world and we are just living in it.

Leon Draisaitl is back on the top line as the Edmonton Oilers round out their season. They are officially playoff bound and are putting the last pieces together. He will be doing everything in his power to help McDavid get to 100 and will probably pile on the points himself. He is at about 1.5 points per game right now which is also nearly unheard of. These two are about to do some damage.

Wyatt Kalynuk is a cheap defenseman that you have probably not heard of yet. He is just getting his first cup of coffee with Chicago and has been playing very, very well. He was a seventh round pick in 2017 which is why it is a little surprising he is already having the success he is. Keep an eye on this kid and apparently Chicago’s scouting department.

Ilya Sorokin. While Varlamov did not get the win yesterday he did get a 35+ save bonus and had a commendable performance. Sorokin is a guy who has not gotten nearly enough attention in the Calder race. He has 12 wins and a very shiny 2.19 goals against. Product of the system or not this dude is already cementing himself as one of the league’s best.

Now what do you get if you sign up for $99 now

  • A high peripheral defenseman
  • A superb winger who is finally back and healthy
  • More upstarts to keep your eyes on for next season

Here’s a high caliber lineup For DFS Hockey 5/4/21 (using DraftKings Values)

CenterC. McDavid$9,200
CenterK. Dach$3,400
WingL. Draisaitl$7,600
WingT. Teravainen$5,000
WingK. Kapanen$3,700
DefenseR. Pulock$4,000
DefenseW. Kalynuk$3,700
GoalieS. Varlamov$8,500
UtilityJ. T. Miller$4,800

Kirby Dach – C. The Blackhawks may have been eliminated but that will not stop them from working every shift. This young team is brimming with potential and none more than Dach. We hope he holds down the second line center spot next season but wherever he is, he will succeed.

Teuvo Teravainen – W. Turbo is back! We were pretty stoked on this guy at the beginning of the year and his injury was a huge bummer. He is back though and on the full top line for Carolina. That should terrify everyone. When he, Aho, and Svech get going they are nearly unstoppable.

Kasperi Kapanen – W finally got Malkin back as his center and we are looking forward to them building their chemistry. It is a huge win for the Penguins. They get to bump Jeff Carter down to a more reasonable third line role, although he excelled in the number two spot. We would like to see Kapanen hit 30 points this season.

Ryan Pulock – D is surprisingly cheap right now. It is probably due to lack of points but his peripherals are still fantastic. We have no idea how his production managed to go down so much on the score sheet and we would love to get some bonus there but he blocks and shoots.

J.T. Miller – U. Jimothy Timothy Miller has been on a tear since the Canucks came back from Covid. He is their number one center and is trying to put them on his back to finish out the year. They are eliminated but like some of the other similar teams have no want to tank for a high draft pick. He does not know how to be anything but incredibly competitive.
