NHL DFS Picks For May 22, 2021

Auston Matthews
TAMPA, FL - DECEMBER 13: Toronto Maple Leafs center Austin Matthews (34) shoots wide as Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevsky (88) scrambles across the goal in attempt to make a save during the first period of an NHL game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Tampa Bay Lightning on December 13, 2018, at Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL. The Washington Capitals are a curious bunch. Unnecessary penalties and hits only served to poke a bear which is known to fight back when provoked. They brought that devastation on to themselves and the Boston Bruins are going to be dialed in for the next game. This is two years in a row where it seems like Washington just does not care about the playoffs. It’s a bad look and they need their leadership to change things up.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are breathing huge sighs of relief as it looks like John Tavares is doing as well as can be expected after a knee to the head. They will be coming out strong to tie up the series against the Montreal Canadiens. The other games feel somewhat like toss ups with super even matchups across the board so we will be hand picking a few players from the fray.

Here’s a come back lineup For DFS Hockey 5/22/21 (using DraftKings Values)

CenterA. Matthews$9,200
Center
WingK. Kaprizov$6,600
Wing
Wing
DefenseK. Letang$5,900
Defense
GoalieJ. Campbell$8,100
Utility $5,300

Auston Matthews will be learning a lot about himself this week. Tavares is still the captain but Matthews is next in line for the C on his chest. He will need to step up his leadership, put the past behind him, and lead his team to victory.

Kirill Kaprizov has been held scoreless through three games against Vegas. They seem to have done a good job preparing for him but we do not believe for a second that they have it all figured out. Like Matthews, Kaprizov is going to have to dig deep and find the next level.

Kris Letang and the Penguins seem to have a solid grasp of this series. They have deep experience in the playoffs and Letang is looking great out there. Let’s see if he can follow up on his one goal and two assist performance from Thursday.

Jack Campbell had a solid game Thursday and just got a little unlucky in how things panned out. The short handed goal scored on him by Paul Byron was highlight reel worthy and does not need to be dwelled upon. We have been waiting a long time to see playoff Campbell. Get him in your lineup.

Here’s a come back lineup For DFS Hockey 5/22/21 (using DraftKings Values)

CenterA. Matthews$9,200
CenterN. Foligno$3,900
WingK. Kaprizov$6,600
WingA. Tuch$4,900
WingO. Wahlstrom$3,100
DefenseK. Letang$5,900
DefensePelech$2,900
GoalieJ. Campbell$8,100
UtilityE. Malkin$5,300

Nick Foligno – C is likely to slide into center with Tavares out and he will not skip a beat. Say what you will about whether it was necessary to fight Corey Perry after the incident, but that is a veteran move from someone who wanted to bring his team back and into the game. He will likely be mentoring Auston Matthews through all of this and is exactly why he was traded for at the deadline.

Alex Tuch – W exploded for two goals when he was brought up to the top line and that did not surprise us at all. He had a quiet last game but we are not concerned. It looks like Pacioretty’s absence will continue so keep going after this stud while you can.

Oliver Wahlstrom – W will need to work some of his magic tonight to even up the series against the Penguins. He is a fantastic depth piece and still comprises one of the best third lines in the league. We did not get very far going after Palmieri and Pageau last time but we have not lost faith.

Adam Pelech – D is today’s cheap peripheral dude. No, we did not change that line from a different defenseman named Adam from yesterday’s matchups. Same deal. You know what he brings to the table. Is it the most well seasoned appetizer you have seen? No. Is it still pretty good and you are probably still going to sneak seconds? Yes.

We did not even get to the Predators thrilling overtime victory yesterday because there is just so much content to get to. Follow us on Twitter (@FantasyDFSX) and enjoy yourself this beautiful weekend.
