The wind was knocked out of our sails last night. It is hard to write this article this morning after watching what happened to John Tavares. Early indications are a concussion and being out for the rest of the playoffs. It was terrible to watch and we do not suggest watching the replay because it is not safe for work. Here’s hoping the team can rally, find their game and come out to win for their captain.

The show must go on, though, and there is still a lot that went down yesterday. Four games with thiry total goals scored. Goalies got shelled and that trend is going to continue. Despite their first game loss we are still leaning towards the Edmonton Oilers over the Winnipeg Jets, the Colorado Avalanche over the St. Louis Blues, and the Carolina Hurricanes looked poised to roll the Nashville Predators. The last game featuring the Boston Bruins vs the Washington Capitals is going to go to quadruple overtime and is going to be nearly impossible to predict.

Despite the bad news we are still excited about this lineup and will be back tomorrow much more chipper and fully in weekend mode. Let’s do that hockey.

Here’s a baller lineup For DFS Hockey 5/21/21 (using DraftKings Values)

CenterC. McDavid$9,200
Center
WingD. Pastrnak$7,400
Wing
Wing
DefenseD. Hamilton$6,400
Defense
GoalieNedeljkovic$7,900
Utility $5,000

Connor McDavid had an eerily quiet game one. Given the little statistical knowledge we have though it seems unlikely that he does not score 10 goals tonight. It’s simple math, folks.

David Pastrnak is on a steep discount right now for unknown reasons. Sure he is a little snake bitten recently in the goal scoring department, but like McDavid that means he is going to score five to seven. The Capitals goaltending situation is the most suspect part of their lineup and the Bruins will be raining shots on them all night.

Dougie Hamilton is a top five defenseman in this league and continues to put up gaudy shot totals on the opposition. He gets involved in the offense in a way that few others can manage from his position. An assist and six shots in his last game feels within reach on most nights and we have to roll him.

Alex Nedeljkovic will be facing a desperate Predators team but we believe in him. Nashville’s secret weapon this year has been their goaltender Juuse Saros. Their offense is just ok and not the scariest thing. We are excited for Alex, this playoff experience, and what this will do for his development going into next season. The 25 year old is in the perfect spot.

Now what do you get if you sign up for $99 now

  • A new name filling a veterans skates for one more game
  • A utility player that just does not quit
  • All of the other playoff fantasy news and advice that you need

Here’s a baller lineup For DFS Hockey 5/21/21 (using DraftKings Values)

CenterC. McDavid$9,200
CenterD. Krejci$4,700
WingD. Pastrnak$7,400
WingC. Smith$3,900
WingK. Vesalainen$2,500
DefenseD. Hamilton$6,400
DefenseLarsson$3,100
GoalieA. Nedeljkovic$7,900
UtilityT. Oshie$5,000

David Krejci – C is too cheap for what he and his line bring to fantasy right now. Taylor Hall and Craig Smith paired with this wizard will strike out of nowhere. They have amazing chemistry and do all of the little things right. They tend to get rewarded for that and we will not be taking our eyes off of them.

Craig Smith – W got the double OT winner after a miscommunication behind the Capitals net. That is the sort of tenacity that coaches adore and fans go nuts over. He is smart, hard working and has world class talent to back him up.

Kristian Vesalainen – W has a big opportunity tonight. With Dubois and Ehlers out, Stastny and Vesalainen will be up on the second line for the Jets and get to play with Andrew Copp who is no slouch. This line needs to get going early to turn the tables in this teams favor and upend the Oilers chance at the second round.

Adam Larsson – D is today’s cheap peripheral dude. He brings the physicality and not so much on offense. That is ok though because the floor can sometimes be just as important as the ceiling. He has a strong base and we feel grounded taking him.

T. J. Oshie – U is a constant pain in the butt for rival teams. He thrives in the playoffs and always seems to make an impact. He is now up on the top line with Ovechkin and they know each other well. Honestly, Oshie may have a better chance at spoiling Boston’s chances than Ovi. He just makes it happen.

Writing all that out and getting into tonight’s mindset helped calm the nerves and we are back to rising levels of excitement. Check us out on Twitter (@FantasyDFSX) and send some good vibes Tavares’ way. Have an awesome Friday.
