NHL DFS Picks For May 20, 2021

Auston Matthews
TAMPA, FL - DECEMBER 13: Toronto Maple Leafs center Austin Matthews (34) shoots wide as Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevsky (88) scrambles across the goal in attempt to make a save during the first period of an NHL game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Tampa Bay Lightning on December 13, 2018, at Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL. We are just as surprised as you that the Winnipeg Jets came in and lit up the Edmonton Oilers. Their death may have been greatly exaggerated. But before we get too up in arms about it, it is worth pointing out that two of those goals were empty netters and the Oilers did outshoot the Jets 33-20.  The Jets still have an uphill battle.

One thing that we have not gotten to pay enough attention to is home ice advantage and what capacity different arenas are allowing fans into. That may play in a little later this week and is just something to listen for. As for matchups we have some big ones. The Toronto Maple Leafs get their first crack at the Montreal Canadiens, the Tampa Bay Lightning will try and put their series in a stranglehold, The Vegas Golden Knights enter the Minnesota Wild’s domain and Pittsburgh vs New York will continue to be an absolute grind. Big money is on Toronto with some extras from around the league.

Here’s a maple lineup For DFS Hockey 5/20/21 (using DraftKings Values)

CenterA. Matthews$9,200
Center
WingM. Marner$7,600
Wing
Wing
DefenseA. Martinez$5,500
Defense
GoalieS. Varlamov$7,900
Utility $4,600

Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner are a terrifying duo and we are going straight after this stack today. There is something to be said about how the Leafs may be positioning their second line for heroics if the Canadiens shutdown line is focused on Matthews and Marner, but let’s be real here. These two are going to put on a show and everyone should tune in.

Alec Martinez. We are going back to old faithful and sticking with Martinez. He got a ton of blocks and did exactly what we were hoping for. Defensemen and peripherals are a match made in heaven. He is also on the cheaper side of things so we can afford the big boys.

Semyon Varlamov was the first goalie off the ice this morning which is the common way to indicate who is starting. He may have lost the last game but he also had over 40 saves. He is playing well and just needs the offense in front of him to perk up a little.

Now what do you get if you sign up for $99 now

  • A top line stack with their first home ice advantage
  • A third line stack from one of the deeper teams
  • Access to our NBA playoff advice, MLB regular season and so much more!

Here’s a maple lineup For DFS Hockey 5/20/21 (using DraftKings Values)

CenterA. Matthews$9,200
CenterJ. Pageau$3,600
WingM. Marner$7,600
WingJ. Greenway$3,400
WingK. Palmieri$3,200
DefenseA. Martinez$5,500
DefenseM. Weegar$5,000
GoalieS. Varlamov$7,900
UtilityJ. Eriksson Ek$4,600

Jean-Gabriel Pageau – C will probably be the spark the Islanders need to overcome the Penguins. We have gone to him many times in the past and he has a knack for stepping up. He is one of their most reliable players and has a surprise playmaker on his line.

Kyle Palmieri – W is worth stacking with Pageau. He has already played hero in the playoffs and has been a fantastic trade deadline acquisition for this team. He gets a little bit of second power play time and with Wahlstrom there to complete the set, there is a very dangerous line for the Penguins to deal with.

Jordan Greenway – W is getting stacked with  Eriksson Ek today. The hulking winger will be playing at home and is riding a three game assist streak. We would love to see the shots go up so he can snag you a goal as well, but this line can do some damage on the cheap.

Mackenzie Weegar – D does not get as much power play time as we would like but he is one of the top defensemen at even strength and we have enjoyed him stepping up with Ekblad out of the lineup. Florida will be leaning on him for as much as he will give. This game is very important for them to stay in the race. He will come up big.

Joel Eriksson Ek – U. We may have spoiled the surprise in Greenways blurb but we were able to afford Ek at the last second and are hoping that the lone goal scorer in Game 1 can find some more of that magic. We hope he can become a bonafide number one center on this team and this is where that will start.

It is the most wonderful time of the year. Games going to overtime and even double overtime! Edge of your seat excitement and some competition on the side with our daily fantasy picks.
