Other than The Mustache we are focusing on the West Division today. There is a little to play for and the matchups are generally in favor of the teams who are making the playoffs. The Minnesota Wild have an outside shot at earning home ice advantage over the Colorado Avalanche and they are playing a Blues team who has just made it across the line and has no incentive to keep their best players on the ice.

Auston Matthews reached the 40 goal mark in 50 games. That is honestly up there with what McDavid pulled off this year and really needs to be highlighted how absurd it is. If there is one thing he may actually be playing for that you might not hear about, it is Freddie Andersen finally coming back from injury. One more shot to shut out the Senators who are the only team not to have fallen prey to the goose egg this year.
Kirill Kaprizov has the rookie of the year award on lock. Kirill the Thrill, Dolla Dolla Bill Kirill, whatever you want to call him he is an absolute stud. He will pad his stats in any way he can tonight and will be worth tuning in to.
Cale Makar gets access to a ton of potent offensive weapons on the power play and he knows how to use them. He is mobile, strong and has a wicked shot. We have gushed about him before so we do not need to rehash all that. Just put him in.
Cam Talbot will be holding down the fort in Minnesota today and he has done so many, many times this season. He is tied for ninth in wins this season for goalies and if he gets one more tonight he will have sole ownership of that position. Again, the Blues have little to play for other than pride and it is wise for them to rest some of their stars.

Chandler Stephenson – C. After setting our lineup we realized that Vegas is not dressing a whole complement of players today. If you are looking to swap anyone out do it with Stephenson and Tuch. That said, Stephenson is still maturing and has done an amazing job as the 1C for the Golden Knights. He will log some decent minutes tonight and that is just more opportunity for you.
Alex Tuch – W ought to get a full time second line winger spot next season. He is well over half a point a game with primarily third line minutes. Like Hyman on the Leafs, Tuch is a swiss army knife. He excels wherever he is deployed. He will also see extra minutes tonight which we know he will use smartly.
Alex Newhook – W. Do not be deceived by his winger status, he is the second line center over Nazem Kadri right now. He has three assists in four games which is an impressive start to a career. We would and, in fact are, putting money on his team doing everything they can to get him a goal tonight.
Artem Zub – D earned himself a spot on Russia’s world championship roster and will be heading there immediately after his season is over. You will be taking him primarily for his blocking ability, but there is a small offensive upside as well. Cheap swing for a decent player.
Alex Galchenyuk – U has surprised everyone by playing up when he got to the Leafs. The issue is that their roster is so deep he still might not make the cut for the playoffs. While Toronto as a whole does not have much to play for, he should be a man on a mission.
