NHL DFS Picks For March 7, 2021

Alex Ovechkin DFS
PITTSBURGH, PA - MARCH 07: Washington Capitals Left Wing Alex Ovechkin (8) celebrates with the bench after Washington Capitals Right Wing T.J. We are going straight after a goal scorer and two hot heads to seed the lineup today. Ottawa Senators vs Calgary Flames games are just pure wholesome family fun these days. As the season closes in on the halfway mark we are seeing all the animosities start to boil over and games are getting chippy. There are no friends in today’s matchups.

Here’s a brawling lineup For DFS Hockey 3/7/21 (using DraftKings Values)

Center  $5,600
Center  $4,800
WingA. Ovechkin $8,100
WingB. Tkachuk $7,300
Wing  $4,200
DefenseJ. Carlson $5,900
Defense  $3,000
Goalie  $7,300
Utility  $3,600

Alexander Ovechkin will not see anything change on his end after Tom Wilson got himself a seven game suspension. Ovi does not really need any particular linemates as long as they get the puck in his neighborhood. He will shoot all night long as he has some records yet to break.

Brady TkachukSpeaking of shooting this kid is a machine gun. He gets an absolute mad number of shots per game and occasionally they go in. There is a good chance he spends sometime in the bad boy box but do not let his penalty minutes dissuade you. He will get his shots in and that does not restrict itself to firing the puck. He will be throwing hands.

John Carlson is one of the top consistently good offensive defensemen in the game. It is actually kind of crazy that he has not gotten a point in his last three tilts. That is unsustainable for him and a matchup against the Flyers should bring out his competitive spirit. This will be a good one.

Now what do you get if you sign up now?

  • We lean on the Rangers who are heating up right now.
  • A slow to start blueliner scored a goal, can he keep it up?
  • One Dallas Star you might have forgotten about.

Alexander Georgiev – G ($7,300 DK) should be in net tonight with Shesterkin recently injured. That said we have been screwed the last two days by last minute very unexpected changes in goal so who knows. Both the Rangers and Penguins are trying to knock on the door to the playoffs and New York may be able to position themselves to leapfrog Philly with a win tonight.

Ryan Strome – C ($5,600 DK). A lot of hockey fans seem to have this thing against Strome and keep wanting to say he is nothing without Artemi Panarin. That is clearly not the case as he is having a great season. For a second line center on a team that has struggled this year he has done his job well and seems to be clicking with Kreider.

Roope Hintz – C ($4,800 DK). Dallas’ season has been a strange one and Hintz has missed some time but his numbers are a little eye popping. He is just under a point per game and is under $5,000. Do we really need to say anything else?

Tim Stuetzle – W ($4,200 DK) may only be around a half point per game right now but keep a few things in mind. He was drafted only five months ago, he is on the Ottawa Senators, and he has mostly been playing third line minutes. This wunderkid is going to have an incredible career. With no points in two games that means he is due and will be looking to get revenge on the Flames after the trouncing they received on Thursday.

Noah Hanifin – D ($3,000 DK) was supposed to be the heir apparent to Mark Giordano. He has had a lackluster season but he scored a goal last game. We are hoping he uses that spark. His peripherals are decent and with what will hopefully be a high scoring game he has some interesting potential.

Alexis Lafreniere – U ($3,600 DK). There is a nice Rangers spread here today with Lafreniere seeing top line duties with Zibenajad and Buchnevich. There is a good chance we misspelled the entire line’s names but you know who we are talking about. He has been heating up recently and since we like the matchup we are marching forward.

Alternative Moves…

Matthew Tkachuk – W ($6,700 DK) is a quick discount on his younger brother and offers up some similar upside. Save $600 and look to upgrade at center.

Filip Forsberg – W ($7,600 DK) actually has more fantasy points per game than Alex Ovechkin. He has double digit goals and is one of the bright spots on a brutal Predators team. Save another $500 and we will upgrade Hintz for you.

Evgeni Malkin – C ($6,100 DK) is back, baby. He is on a four game point streak and will be damned if the Rangers are going to take that spot in the standings from the Penguins.

Early games are getting underway so we are off to watch some hockey! Enjoy the picks and best of luck getting those payouts. When you hit it big we would really appreciate it if you showed some love on Twitter (@FantasyDFSX). The week begins anew and we are ready for it. Take care.
