The anthems were amazing and the amount of scoring was off the charts for that Winnipeg Jets vs Montreal Canadiens game last night. Kyle Connor got us three assists and while Connor Hellebuyck let in a couple more than we were hoping, he pulled out the win. The league is really coming out this year and showing the world what type of crazy skill can be put on display night in and night out. A lot of today’s matchups feel more like coin flips than having an obvious winner. We are going to go after another playoff level matchup and see what kind of action there is.

Igor Shesterkin should get the nod against the mighty St. Louis Blues. Shesterkin has been receiving a lot of praise for his low stats. Under two goals a game on average will get you that. All the Rangers then have to do is score two and they can get away with a win. It will not be easy but this can be a defining game for Shesty.
You could go for Adam Fox, but that is what everyone else is doing. Jacob Trouba’s numbers may not grab you, but we are just pointing out that he does get power play two time. The Blues take penalties and at the very least, Trouba will be racking up ice time tonight.
We never take the breadman Artemi Panarin. We normally have him in our head as an elite talent that does not need to get bumped that often but he is priced at $6,000 and that just seems too low for a guy with 56 points in 48 games. He is crushing it this year with little to no fanfare.

He is not the most expensive guy on your list by a fair margin, but there are not that many guys who average almost three blocks a game in this league. Colton Parayko will be standing tall, sprawled low, and spinning on his head to slow the Rangers down as much as he can.
We want to grab a winger from Dallas. There is no real reason why other than we want to watch these two guys play. Jason Robertson has exploded onto the scene and has been a revelation for the Stars. He was a candidate for rookie of the year last year and is already over a point per game. Where did this kid come from? He can be a little spotty, though and we are noticing that Joe Pavelski has been without a goal too long. If he does get one, it is going to be a gritty one right in front of the net, but he will make it happen.
If you did not swap out Panarin for one of those two, you are going to need someone on the real cheap. Jordan Eberle or Ilya Mikheyev can provide all the relief you need. We do not like Seattle’s chances tonight but as recently noted, if they do score it is probably through Eberle. Mikheyev has that Hyman-esque game to him where he is on the third line but you would not know it based on his scoring. Let’s see if he has some Pavelski to his game as well.
The Buffalo Sabres have to be looking at the result of the Toronto v Detroit Red Wings game where Toronto let in way more goals than they should have and it took them 10 of their own to win! The Sabres are scrappy and are worth a look today. We might actually put Alex Tuch in over one of the other wingers and pair him up with Tage Thompson. They are helping revitalize Jeff Skinner’scareer and the three can make magic together.
If you lean to the other side of Niagara Falls we think John Tavares’ demise has been greatly exaggerated. He did not get in on the fun against the Wings but did post up two assists the next game. He would of course pair well with a fine William Nylander.
