As of writing this we have little to no information on starting goalies today so we are flying a little blind, but are going to take the easy route for our freebies. The Colorado Avalanche are up against the San Jose Sharks and it should be a win for the snowy boys. The Sharks are losing as many games as they are winning and cannot seem to score goals while also not stopping a whole lot of them. The Avs are the first team to cross the 90 point barrier and are shooting to be the first to 100. Today will be two more.

Here’s a chill lineup For DFS Hockey 3/18/22 (using DraftKings Values)

CenterN. MacKinnon$9,200
Center

DefenseC. Makar$7,400
Defense
GoalieD. Kuemper$8,300
Utility

Darcy Kuemper not being the most expensive goalie is just a testament to how well Jakob Markstrom and the Calgary Flames have stopped pucks from entering the net. The Flames have let up 30 fewer goals in the same number of games. Colorado just scores a whole lot more. It is somewhat of a coin flip but the Sabres can surprise more than the Sharks can so we lean Kuemper today.

We talk about the golden stat of a point per game a lot because of how likely it is for a player to get you points in a game. Nathan MacKinnon is almost at an assist per game by itself. Toss on half a goal a game and you have a truly elite player. He also happens to have one of the best contracts in the league which is what allows the legendary player and GM Joe Sakic to build this juggernaut.

Cale Makar is the obvious next choice even if it blows up our budget. Stacking these three together should net you most of the points you need to see some winnings. Makar is a baller, what else do we need to tell you? Well, what we will say is that we have a couple replacements that are cheaper along with some savvy savings on studs but only if you subscribe. Just a quick update for some ongoing news: Claude Giroux is being sat tonight and may sit the next game while his new home is found. It is sounding very much like he could be a Florida Panther by the end of the week. We will be reminding you to grab him in his first game, but the saga is almost over. If you have any questions about who to grab, it should be from whomever is playing the Flyers, they are in a brutally bad spot right now.

We are likely taking a small hit to points but huge savings by taking Nazem Kadri instead of MacKinnon. He is well over a point per game so you should have a ton of confidence in him. If you want to move away from Colorado then go after Elias Lindholm. The Flames should still have no problem handling the Sabres and we still do not know any of their goalie names yet. Lindholm has been scoring like an absolute madman. Goals everywhere. Actually, since we are here, Josh Norrisis back in a big way and you may consider him for either of your center spots since he is up against the Flyers.

That does mean that Anton Forsberg is a good choice to save on goalie if you need. He has been doing very well for himself and given the lack of scoring on the other side of the ice, he provides fantastic value for your dollar.

We are not swapping Makar but given that we are all about flexibility here, Devon Toews would be the swap to make. We are also noticing that Mackenzie Weegar looks like quite the value add given his FPPG to price ratio and we also really like Rasmus Andersson at his price point. Beef up at that defense while we find some highly skilled wingers on the cheap for you.

Andrew Mangiapane is back on his horse and for $4,000 you cannot go wrong. It is looking like his new center will be Lindholm’s cousin Calle Jarnkrok who we mentioned in our trade talk the other day. Jarnkrok is listed as a $2,500 winger but looks like we will be second line center and will be playing with family. Take him now!

That should really help your budget, but just in case you should have Tom Wilson and Anthony Duclair in your back pocket. Wilson is chugging along at a solid pace and is always a solid bet. Duclair is in an interesting position though. There is a good chance he gets bumped down a line if Claude Giroux does get traded. He will be looking to make a splash to make sure it is Maxim Mamin that gets demoted and not him.

Friday is finally upon us and it might be time to take a hike. It is a beautiful day out so make sure to get some fresh air, as long as that air will not freeze your lungs. We post all the things on Twitter (@FantasyDFSX) and would love to have you join us there. Take it easy and we will catch you tomorrow. Later.
