NHL DFS Picks For March 15, 2022

ST. LOUIS, MO - MARCH 09: Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov (16) battles for the puck on the boards ahead of St. Louis Blues leftwing Mackenzie MacEachern (28) during an NHL game between the Florida Panthers and the St. Louis Blues, on March 09, 2020, at Enterprise Center, St. Louis, MO. Auston Matthews has been suspended for two games for cross-checking Buffalo Sabres Rasmus Dahlin. It is deserved as it was a pretty vicious hit, but Matthews has no prior history. We are bummed that we can’t farm more goals from him, but it is encouraging that the Department of Player Safety is actually doing the right thing and suspending one the leagues best players.

Here’s a wacky lineup For DFS Hockey 3/15/22 (using DraftKings Values)

CenterA. Barkov$8,800

DefenseD. Hamilton$6,400
Defense
GoalieI. Shesterkin$8,400
Utility

Igor Shesterkin is a bit of a double edged sword today. He has a high ceiling playing the Anaheim Ducks, but he will also be one of the the most picked goalies of the day. It may make the margins thinner but he is having an outstanding year.

The Florida Panthers are continuing their west coast tour and will probably be knocking the Sharks all around the Shark Tank. Alexander Barkov has been a model captain and represents one of the rarest types of skilled players; that of the two way centerman. He is just as good on defense as he is on offense. He is a threat anywhere on the ice and knows how to get the puck back if his team turns it over.

Dougie Hamilton is going to be your best dollar value of the day. He has not scored a point in four games yet still hits double digit fantasy points with shots and blocks. He is putting together a big game soon and is going to explode across all categories.

• Save money and keep the high end potential of Shesterkin with this second goalie
• This elite sniper is climbing the goal scoring leaderboards almost every game
• A winger around $4,000 just got a promotion and he should probably be on your roster

Ilya Sorokin has the league’s second most shutouts with six to his name this year. He only trails Jakob Markstrom who just never seems to let the puck by him. The Islanders are on a roll right now and with Mat Barzal back they have some more confidence up front. Washington has a target on their back and the Isles are taking aim.

David Pastrnak and the Boston Bruins will be trying to stop the Blackhawks from getting revenge for the loss last week in Boston. They travel to Chicago which is not currently a city known for its deep goalie pool. Pasta scored two goals and an assist in the last one and is currently shooting below his usual shooting percentage. He has a lot more goals in him.

To afford the noodle man you will probably have to make some savings on Barkov who is really getting up there in cost. Nazem Kadri and Jack Hughes will save you up to $1,800 and get you close to the same level of output. We do not want to go too cheap with our second center so we are going after Bo Horvat or Mat Barzal in that price range. Barzal really needs to step up his goal scoring and if he ever decided to work on his faceoff wins, maybe he would have more chances to do so. We swear we are not continually frustrated by a top line center getting 3-5 FOWs/game. In reality, much like Pastrnak, he is just getting some unlucky bounces, it will happen soon enough.

We are going to have to save somewhere and we found you a couple defensemen that will get the job done for pennies on the dollar. Calvin de Haan just got a promotion when Connor Murphy had to leave the last game on a stretcher. The increase in time should boost his production nicely. There is also Cam Fowler to consider. He has decent peripherals and will need to be absorbing a couple extra shots with the NY Rangers firing at will. If you take one, the other may be a good utility fit to make everything work.

Let’s wrap up with our bargain wingers and make a day out of it. To help ward off Shesterkin you may as well turn to a guy taking shots at him. Troy Terry did not get his 30th goal like we hoped but still managed an assist and a few shots. As before, keep taking him until that big milestone is met. Anthony Beauvillier was a secret weapon for us last year but the Isles having the rough start to the season we have not turned to him at all. That needs to change. His development is coming along nicely. Last but certainly not least, Valerie Nichuskin is up on Colorado’s top line with Landeskog injured. Just over $4,000 for access to MacKinnon and Rantanen is an absolute steal.

We are back to a full slate of games and an evening of highlights, scores and tacos. Please retweet our Twitter (@FantasyDFSX) if you happen to have a chance, it helps us out a ton. May your guac be cool and your salsa spicy.
