Our suggestion that Alexander Ovechkin would reach 10 shots last night may have been a bit of hyperbole, but Tom Wilson did end up with 7 and two goals. The stack did its job. Did you take the Hughes brothers? Quinn did not end up doing much but Jack lit the lamp almost immediately on an amazing single handed effort getting the steal and bringing it all the way back for a score. Our boy Jeremy Swayman also pulled out a 34 save shutout. It was a good day.

It is not often, or ever, that we would suggest to tune in to a game just for the national anthem but the Winnipeg Hoosli Ukrainian Mens Chorus will be singing both the Canadian anthem as well that of Ukraine. It will be full of emotion and we are always stoked to hear Manitoba belt out “True North!” when that part comes by.

Here’s a standing tall lineup For DFS Hockey 3/1/22 (using DraftKings Values)

Center

WingK. Connor$7,300

DefenseC. Makar$6,600
Defense
GoalieC. Hellebuyck$8,300
Utility

We are so glad Kyle Connor does not cost $8,900 anymore. That is a silly price even when he is popping off. He did just post a two goal, five shot game though so he is more than worth the $7,300 today. He has 32 goals on the season and 27 assists. One more point puts him at 60 and would tie him for tenth in the league in overall points. He is a stud.

Cale Makar is only three points behind Connor and in four fewer games. Those are goofy numbers for a guy only one year removed from his rookie season. Kyle at least has a few seasons under his belt. Makar is just going to continue to contribute. We are very curious to see how Colorado does against the stingy Islanders.

Montreal may be in a resurgent phase right now, but Winnipeg as a whole will be in their way. Connor Hellebuyck is going to be at the top of his game. The Jets need wins like these if they have any hopes of catching to the Stars in the standings.

It is a little rude to call Antti Raanta weak as he has battled mightily to stay in the league, but his career has been plagued by injuries and there is a reason he has only played about 10 games this season. You would do well to grab some Detroit guys today. We started the Moritz Seiderbandwagon and we are never getting off. He is almost a must add at this point, but there are a couple guys we are considering. Dylan Larkin and Tyler Bertuzzi are both having phenomenal seasons and they know that there is a chance to take down the mighty Hurricanes tonight.

We were going to offer up some cheaper choices on D and if you feel like swapping go for it, but we are sticking with those two phenoms. We will find you discounts primarily at center and winger. There is one goalie swap you could make if you felt you needed to. Linus Ullmark and the Boston Bruins look like they are taking this road trip seriously and will be trying to tweak their gameplan before they play the Golden Knights in a couple of days.

Brock Nelson and Joel Eriksson Ek continue to show up next to each other and are just straight up strong choices. Nelson has had a touch more success recently but will have his hands full with Colorado. Ek has been kind of quiet but this is a big game against the Calgary Flames. The Flames finally showed weakness and the Wild must cap this three game losing streak. It’s time for the big boys to do some damage.

Yegor Sharangovich was highlighted yesterday and he went ahead and got another goal and another assist. He is on an eight game point streak. The Devils absolutely had their way with the Canucks yesterday and will hope to carry that success into tonight’s game against Columbus. Toss Blake Coleman and Tyler Toffoli onto the pile to balance out what Ek will do tonight. They know how to play big in big games. This one is going to be nuts.

The happiest day of the week is here. The asada is marinating, the tomato, onion and avocado are ready to be diced and smashed together. The citrus bowl is full and we will have tummies at the ready.
