March is here and so are a couple friendly reminders. Spring will be here soon and so will daylight savings time. You have a couple weeks but the seasons are changing and you may have even noticed some different birds in your area as migration has begun. As much as we were hoping we could tie that into a bird themed team today we are not putting the Ducks in our row. Instead we will look to fly high with the Winnipeg Jets. Close enough.
Here’s a lofty lineup For DFS Hockey 3/1/21 (using DraftKings Values)
Center | M. Scheifele | $7,700
Center | $6,700 | ||
Wing | K. Connor | $6,400 | |
Wing | $4,000 | ||
Wing | $3,200 | ||
Defense | $6,000 | ||
Defense | J. Morrissey | $4,200
Goalie | C. Hellebuyck | $8,200
Utility | $3,400 |
Connor Hellebuyck’s price is finally coming back up to where we would expect. He has continued to put the Jets on his back and will be facing a clueless Vancouver team. We were hoping the Canucks would be enjoying a resurgent season but clearly something is off. The cards point to Winnipeg being the ones to take the win tonight.
We have put Mark Scheifele on our list before but had not even realized how dominant his season has been. He is currently a top ten goal scorer in the league just ahead of his teammate who is next on our list. Put that up against a beleaguered Thatcher Demko and you have a recipe for success.
Kyle Connor is tied for eleventh in goal scoring although he is tied with nine other people for the honor. We would put him ahead of some of the others because he has done it in fewer games and we also may have him in a couple of our other fantasy leagues. We are putting the Jets top power play in front today because of a juicy matchup and cannot wait to watch this tilt.
Josh Morrissey is a little snake bit and has not found the back of the net yet this season. Do not let that worry you. He is still at a half a point per game which is respectable for a blue liner. That is also after not having gotten a point in a few games. He is top power play and this is the chance he needs to unleash his potential.

John Tavares – C ($6,700 DK) is going to be top line center for the Maple Leafs tonight with Auston Matthews likely sitting another game due to a wrist injury. Tavares is the captain anyway so this is not a stretch and is really more a testament to how scary Toronto is that this guy is their second best center. He is an incredible player and knows how to use Marner on his wing.
Alex Tuch – W ($4,000 DK). Steal alert! Tuch has been moved up to the top line in Vegas and this guy knows how to take advantage of a situation. He is a huge dude that absolutely cruises around the ice and dominates play. We love him as a long term prospect and you should try and catch him in action. He should be easy money tonight as the Golden Knights try to slow down the Wilds hot streak.
Jesper Fast – W ($3,200 DK) is another sneaky play. You know how much we love guys moving up to top lines, particularly in Carolina. Having access to Aho and Svechnikov is a dream come true. He has had a bumpy road to get here but he has four points in his last four games so we do not feel bad taking a swing on him.
Mark Giordano – D ($6,000 DK) laid out Connor Brown in his last game against the Senators and told the guy ten years his junior to, “go back to the gym.” Do you really need any other confirmation that this guy is still a top competitor? He does it all and we are looking forward to the rematch.
Cody Glass – U ($3,400 DK) is another one of our favorite sleepers in Vegas along with Tuch. Just so you know he moved up to second line center and because Tuch is top line that means Glass has Max Pacioretty on his wing. That is some tasty value.
Alternative Moves…
Leon Draisaitl – C ($8,300 DK). We cannot stay away from him for too long and at the very least this matchup should be wild. He was clearly tilted in the last game against the Leafs and we are hoping he turns that frustration into some goals rather than penalty minutes. Swap out Scheifele.
Patric Hornqvist – W ($6,000 DK) has been an absolute revelation for the Panthers and brings it eerie single shift. He is a big reason for their insane success this year and is always a great play. His price is creeping up to almost concerning levels but we will let you know when he is too rich for our blood. Swap out Connor for him.
We do not have as much wiggle room today for alternates since we went for fewer cheap guys. You will do great with either of those slates. Who do you like better tonight? Tell us over on Twitter (@FantasyDFSX) and enjoy the new month.
