The Stanley Cup Finals are here. Against all odds the Montreal Canadiens have earned the right to battle the Tampa Bay Lightning for the hardest trophy in sports to win. The Canadiens overcame the juggernaut Vegas Golden Knights even when it seemed like the Knights had the refs in their pocket. On the other side the Lightning took care of the New York Islanders in seven games. New York had its moments but it never felt that out of control for the Lightning, especially after that eight goal performance.
Montreal’s biggest strength is their counterattack. They are read to speed down the ice and take advantage of any mistake the opposing team may make. That will be tough with the every disciplined Tampa squad. The Lightning can beat you in so many ways and that is what will likely end up being the deciding factor. Montreal may be the underdog, but it is clear they should not be counted out yet. Every other game is behind them. First to four wins takes it all.

Go big or go home. Take your favorite team’s goalie for this one because this is the ultimate showdown. One of these two players is likely to win the Conn Smythe this year, earning the most valuable playoff player award. Andre Vasilevskiy and Carey Price have been outstanding backstopping their teams to wins. All eyes will be on these two.
Brayden Point’s goal streak finally came to an end. It did not matter though as their team needed just the one goal to shut out the Islanders and move on to the last round. Tyler Toffoli has also been a little snake bit but that could just have been the monsters of defense that Vegas had. The Golden Knights post-mortem is going to have to address the lack of scoring from the forwards. Toffoli should bounce back, though and while Tampa’s defense is no joke, it is not the three headed monster from the desert. Choose wisely.

Nick Suzuki is the future of the league. Steven Stamkos is on the tail end of a hall of fame career. Both will come out with ridiculous amounts of energy and will be trying to be the game breaker. We like Suzuki’s line a little better overall but Stamkos has been elite since Suzuki was a toddler. Tough choices.
There are two very large men patrolling their respective blue lines. Both are feared around the league as they should be. We have seen people just step out of the way of a Shea Weber slapshot before. Victor Hedman similarly crushes everything in his path. Hedman is definitely the better pick here but Weber has scored a little more recently. Gold medals abound in these guys’ trophy cases. Flip a coin and have fun.
Jake Evans will be a gametime decision but keep an eye on him. He was on the receiving end of a dirty hit that left him concussed a couple weeks ago. He is ready to return and make an impact. If he is not in it will be because Joel Armia will have been cleared of Covid protocols and will be back in immediately. Double check before you submit your card.
Can you believe we have made it this far? A condensed regular season and an action packed three rounds of playoffs all in preparation for this. We hope you get to catch some of the games because these players are going to leave absolutely everything on the ice. It is time for legends to be made.
