NHL DFS Picks For January 4, 2022

Mark Scheifle DFS
VANCOUVER, BC - FEBRUARY 19: Winnipeg Jets center Mark Scheifele (55) and goaltender Laurent Brossoit (30) celebrate after their NHL game against the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena on February 19, 2021 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. (Photo by Derek Cain/Icon Sportswire)

There are some huge matchups today and we wish we could cover more of the storylines that are unfolding in the National Hockey League. If you watch any game tonight we would tune in to the Calgary Flames vs the Florida Panthers. This will be a nail biter with two top teams going at it. Lowkey the Nashville Predators are having a great season and their game against the Golden Knights is going to be solid. In the meantime, the biggest mismatch is certainly going to be played out at Gila River Arena in Glendale, AZ.

Here’s a Manitoban lineup For DFS Hockey 1/4/21 (using DraftKings Values)

CenterM. Scheifele$6,800
Center
WingK. Connor$7,800

GoalieC. Hellebuyck$8,200
Utility

Connor Hellebuyck stood tall against the Golden Knights even when they tied it late to force overtime. The Jets are clicking again and that is not a good sign for the Coyotes. It is in Arizona and we will tell you that we have been to one of these before. It was a sea of white. The true north will stand tall tonight.

Kyle Connor potted another overtime winner in that game against the Knights. He is a rare talent and as much as we talk about his goal scoring ability, we have to note his speed here. Holy smokes, he is fast. He is a left winger, enters the zone on the left as he does, realizes it is not great, loops all the way up to the right wing and then just turns on the afterburners. No passing, no faking, just game winning ability in a bottle.

To complete the set today we are taking Mark Scheifele. You may notice that in his price range he has the fewest fantasy points per game. That is ok. His line has seen some turnover, but being bolstered by Paul Statsny and Nik Ehlers is a confident position to play from.

We love Scheif but we feel a huge game coming up for Alexander Barkov. He has missed nearly half the season and so a lot of people do not realize that he has 12 goals in 19 games played. That is absurd. It is not much more money and we are so excited for this matchup tonight.

Before we dive into the rest of the skaters we have to point out James Reimer’s season. The Sharks acquired him and Adin Hill while dumping Jones and Dubnyk. Reimer was looking to maybe be the backup but he has been consistently good and San Jose just assigned Hill to the minors. It is Reimertron’s net.

He’s not exactly cheap but even a week ago Victor Hedman cost almost $8,000 and is now under $7,000. Those two losses to New York really hurt his stock. Buy, buy, buy! We will figure out how to afford all this goodness we promise.

Peep Anton Lundell who will be between Jonathan Huderdeau and Anthony Duclair. That is a steal if we have ever seen one. Along the same lines, Erik Haula has recently gotten a promotion to skate with Taylor Hall and David Pastrnak. Either one is great or take both and stash one in your utility spot.

Just a little check out line grab item for you here. Anthony Cirelli is winging on the top line in Tampa. That is a cherry assignment and we are happy that Brayden Point is back. That may mean that Steven Stamkos’ value takes a hit, but he will still likely fool us.

You probably have around five grand left over. We are flipping a coin between Ondrej Palat and Patrik Laine. Palat will be energized by Point just like Cirelli. Laine missed a chunk of the season but is still 11 points in 11 games. He still has some catching up to do.

You know what day it is. We know what day it is. The meat has been marinated. The tortillas are ready to get toasted. The pico ingredients are staring at me to dice them. We probably will not post pics on Twitter (@FantasyDFSX) but there is great info there about all the sports we write about. Have a great week.
