NHL DFS Picks For January 30, 2022

Darcy Kuemper

The Arizona Coyotes let us down hard yesterday. The faint glimmer of hope was that their AHL affiliate, the Tucson Roadrunners, came back from a 0 – 2 deficit to win in overtime. That is little consolation to NHL fans and daily fantasy players. Our revenge on the Buffalo Sabres will be swift. They are playing a second night in a row against the Colorado Avalanche who will be tidying up their affairs before the All Star break.

Here’s a rocky lineup For DFS Hockey 1/30/22 (using DraftKings Values)

CenterM. Rantanen$7,800
Center
WingG. Landeskog$6,500

Defense
Defense
GoalieD. Kuemper$8,300
Utility

Mikko Rantanen has taken over top center duties with Nathan MacKinnon out with a concussion and facial fractures. He is no slouch and immediately made an impact with the new responsibilities. That on top of having no idea who is net for the Sabres should be a recipe for success.

Gabriel Landeskog is just as capable of playing pivot but he remains on the left wing. Losing MacKinnon would be a death blow to most squads but this crew is deep and the captain will not miss a stride. He had two goals and an assist last game and he is certainly capable of doing that again.

Darcy Kuemper should be between the pipes tonight, although Pavel Francouz has been playing fantastic so make sure to double check which one is getting the nod. There is little to say other than they have everything going for them.

At their prices and likelihood of winning, we are not swapping any of our freebies today. We will pile on by taking Patrik Laine. Facing a depleted Canadiens team is always a draw for us and we really want to see this guy be the goal scorer he is capable of being. Columbus needs a big boost right now and will be looking to their 6’5” Finn to play a part.

We promise to not take only Avalanche players but their prices are just too good. Devon Toews had his first game where he was not in the positive in the +/- category. When he is on the ice the other team does not score. Even better, he turns that defense into offense. Over a point per game as a defenseman is insane and he is less than $5,000. There is not really much choice here, in our eyes.

You can pair him up with Matt Grzelcyk who is coming back from a brief injury. He has been a pivotal depth piece on defense. Charlie McAcoy gets most of the attention but Grz is having an incredible season and the Bruins are very happy to have him back.

Keep it rolling with Erik Haula who has 11 points in 15 games this month. It is a testament to how rough his season started that he is still only at 5.7 FPPG with his recent success. He has been clicking with Hall and Pastrnak and knows that he holds his own future in his hands. Enjoy the ride while it lasts.

Jakub Voracek has been a very consistent player over his career. He gets assists all over the place and recently had two games in a row where he had five shots. You can also save $100 and take the captain of the Dallas Stars, Jamie Benn. He definitely has a higher ceiling but the Stars have been wishy washy going .500 over their last ten games. They have a tough task ahead, but it is at home and they still have plenty of deadly weapons to do some damage.

If you are taking Benn then you should stack him with Tyler Seguin. There is also one last Colorado player we would be remiss not to mention. Valerie Nichushkin has moved his way up to the top line with the big boys and that is always worth a look.

Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! We have some big NFL action for you on top of all the NHL goodness. We also just finished watching the replay of the Australian Open. Congratulations, Nadal, what an incredible finish. Pop on over to Twitter (@FantasyDFSX) if it catches your fancy. Take care.
