NHL DFS Picks For January 3, 2022 (Showdown)

Connor McDavid + Leon Draisaitl
CALGARY, AB - MARCH 15: Edmonton Oilers Left Wing Leon Draisaitl (29) and Edmonton Oilers Center Connor McDavid (97) talk between whistles during the third period of an NHL game where the Calgary Flames hosted the Edmonton Oilers on March 15, 2021, at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, AB. With only one game today the margins will be thin. Will Connor McDavid missing practice mean he does not lace up tonight? Will the New York Rangers continue their epic run after beating the defending Stanley Cup Champions in back to back games? The Edmonton Oilers themselves have dropped three in a row and need a win badly. Either way since we do not have to take a goalie tonight we are not going to. Neither netminder has amazing numbers to boost our confidence and the firepower on either side means we may be in for a barn burner.

Here’s a * lineup For DFS Hockey 1/3/21 (using DraftKings Values)

CaptainM. Zibanejad$12,900
FlexA. Fox$8,200

Flex $2,000

Mika Zibanejad got himself a hat trick last game. He is finding his way back to superstar status and the crazy production he had in the last couple years. He is a special player and a super interesting person to boot. Did you know he has a hip hop album?

Adam Fox is cruising along at a point per game. The Ranger’s blueliner is just an all around great defenseman. It is a little curious to see that he did not really get on the scoresheet in these last two games against the Lightning but he was out there for 30 minutes in the first one. That is big boy ice time.

Here Is What You Get If You Sign Up For $99 For Six Months
• Two Edmonton ballers who see power play time
• A surprise defenseman that takes his shots
• The archstone budget player that glues these beasts together

Leon Draisaitl has been our go to pick for awhile just for the savings. He produces nearly as much as McDavid so we do not feel the need to splurge. We also do not know Connor’s status for the evening so it is a pretty easy pass.

Slap Zach Hyman on a stack with Drai and reap all the rewards. It does not matter who he plays with, he will produce. Hyman has found a role as a gritty, get it done guy and is a blast to watch. If you wanted to save a few bucks and think that New York will eke out the win then either Jacob Trouba or Ryan Strome are solid choices. Trouba has been upping his offensive game and Strome is just consistent across the board.

We are going hard after both power plays tonight so we have to take Darnell Nurse. Granted, he plays on the second unit which is strange given his salary but he plays a mean even strength game and keeps those blocks and shots totals high for you.

For your $2,000 diamond in the rough consider Alexis Lafreniere or Cody Ceci. We are as surprised as you that Ceci is making it into one of our articles but he is seeing a lot of ice time and produces at a higher value than he is listed. Laf has been inconsistent at best but with Artemi Panarin out he will be up on the second line with Strome and that is not a bad place to be.

Is it Tuesday yet? We should probably marinate our taco meat starting tonight to really kick off a delicious new year. Check us out on Twitter (@FantasyDFSX) and have a great week.
