NHL DFS Picks For January 29, 2022

Props to Casey DeSmith for save of the year candidate. It made us look a little silly since it was on Dylan Larkin, who we called to get a goal. At the same time, it took a heroic effort to stifle him and Lucas Raymond who was one of our secret stacks yesterday. Just as a bonus today you will want to look at those two again and see if they cannot solve Petr Mrazek tonight.

Here’s a monstrous lineup For DFS Hockey 1/29/22 (using DraftKings Values)

CenterA. Matthews$9,200
Center
WingJ. Gaudreau$7,000

Defense
GoalieA. Vasilevskiy$7,900
Utility

Auston Matthews is in an absolutely disgraceful three game goal slump. What kind of superstar does he think he is? What are they paying him almost 12 million dollars for? He will be lighting the lamp soon and hopefully more than once.

The reason Andre Vasilevskiy is so cheap today is because he is facing the Vegas Golden Knights. They can be a terror on the ice but Tampa Bay is third in the league while the Knights sit at thirteenth. Vasi has been superb this year and will be ready for the challenge tonight.

Johnny Gaudreau is also quietly having a stellar season. Just a few years ago he put up 99 points in 82 games. You can bet that he wants to be in the triple digit club. He is just barely on pace for that. He will be trying to load up before the All Star break and would love to take it to the regional rival Vancouver Canucks.

Having to decide between Steven Stamkos and Brayden Point is not the most fun part of our job. We want them both. Stammer has had more success this year but Point seemingly has the better linemates. The $100 difference is nothing in the grand scheme of things but we are leaning towards Point even though Stamkos has the higher floor. You would also likely need to put them in Matthews spot to use that $2,000 elsewhere.

Evan Bouchard is a fantastic value today. The Oilers are playing the Canadiens and he has seen a move to the top pairing and the power play as well. You are essentially looking at a number one defenseman for less than $6,000. We do not even know that much about the guy since he skipped Nurse and Barrie on the depth chart. We will be keeping a close eye on him tonight.

Evander Kane will make his season debut tonight on Connor McDavid’s left wing. For $2,500 can you clean the dirty feeling off? He has been a serious issue for awhile but he is a top level player that once made seven million a year before the San Jose Sharks found reason to straight up terminate his contract. It is an interesting storyline to follow either way. He ups your chances of winning.

We are going to be pairing Elias Lindholm with Gaudreau tonight. He is one of those guys that is more than above average but because he is not “elite” he never gets talked about. He is a great setup guy and you could even go as far as taking Matthew Tkachuk for the trifecta. They are a dangerous trio. Tkachuk is also a $500 savings over Johnny Hockey if you need some extra funds.

Shayne Ghostisbehiere came through for us yesterday with an assist and we are sticking with him again. The Buffalo Sabres have zero goaltenders right now. Seriously, they are all injured. Now is the time to go after the Yotes. Lawson Crouse is high on our list today as well. It is also not a bad idea to swap out Vasi for Karel Vejmelka

With all that done we actually have enough left over to take Andrei Svechnikov or Mitch Marnerin our utility spot. Both of these youngsters are offensive powerhouses and have been scoring in bunches. You cannot go wrong with either.

Welcome to the weekend! We have got ourselves some tickets to an AHL game this evening and cannot wait to go heckle some prospects. We will see if we can post a picture of it tonight on Twitter (@FantasyDFSX). Party on, Wayne.
