NHL DFS Picks For January 12, 2022

Auston Matthews
TAMPA, FL - DECEMBER 13: Toronto Maple Leafs center Austin Matthews (34) shoots wide as Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevsky (88) scrambles across the goal in attempt to make a save during the first period of an NHL game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Tampa Bay Lightning on December 13, 2018, at Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL. Today’s lineup is going to be all over the place. While there are obvious mismatches and probable winners of games there are some subtleties that are too good to pass up. We do not expect the Arizona Coyotes to pull out a win tonight but they do face Petr Mrazek who has been ho-hum this year. They are not getting shut out and we think we know who might capitalize on that. We also do not want to go heavy on the Boston Bruins again, as good of picks as they were recently. There is one player however who is worth stashing since their opportunities will start dwindling by next week.

Here’s a wild lineup For DFS Hockey 1/12/21 (using DraftKings Values)

CenterA. Matthews$9,000
Center
WingC. Keller$5,000

GoalieL. Ullmark$8,100
Utility

Auston Matthews scored again last night. For missing as many games as he did to start the year it is very impressive that he is already top three in goals. The Coyotes goalie Karel Vejmelka has been impressive this season but that will not stop #34. Right after we finish this article we are going to watch the highlights from last night. It was a good one.

Arizona fans are always daydreaming about Matthews coming home and lining up with Clayton Keller. It may not ever happen, especially with the new arena proposal in Tempe seemingly on its deathbed. We very much hope they stay in the state but it is not looking great. Until then Keller will continue to be one of the lone bright spots on a team in full rebuild mode.

Linus Ullmark will be a $5,000,000 backup by the end of next week. Tuukka Rask is finally back in Beantown and signed for a paltry million dollars. Ullmark is very much incentivized to step up and stone the Canadiens. The Bruins depth just got a huge boost. Might they get Krejci back for the playoffs? More delusional thoughts from a spirited fanbase.

Why is Charlie McAvoy so cheap right now? Was it because of a couple missed games? He may be a little inconsistent on the scoresheet but that golden flow has to be worth a few hundred in the bank. The Bruins are rolling right now and McAvoy is top power play on a nasty unit.

Speaking of power play defensemen, check outBen Chiarot and Vince Dunn. Dunn did get bumped down to the second unit withMark Giordano back but we like him as the future. Chiarot is up top in Montreal with Jeff Petry slowly making his return. He is an incredibly physical player and should get you some nice peripherals.

Alex Kerfoot has been playing out of his mind recently. Take a look at those last few games. Nine points in four games. Just take him. What are you waiting for. With the rest of our picks you should be able to afford yourself any of the big names including Brad Marchandor William Nylander. Have a field day.

Apparently we are going heavier on the Bruins than we were planning. The prices are just too good. We highlightedErik Haulafor his low, low price and position between Taylor Halland David Pastrnak. He netted us a goal and there is no reason to take your foot off the gas. For around the same price you can actually get a first line center with Travis Boyd. We like this pairing with Keller and he should pay some nice dividends. Worth a utility spot.

We ended up going to a new Mexican place and got a barbacoa taco bowl. We will be going back soon. Please give us a follow on Twitter (@FantasyDFSX) and have a happy hump day.
