There was not too much in the way of upsets last night, though congrats to the Blue Jackets for pulling the rug out from under the Capitals.  Edmonton is a big favorite today, so we have a couple thoughts on them even though they seem to be floundering. The Blackhawks are always a fun matchup since their organization is in even worse shambles. It is a bit of a sad state of affairs but we will just invest in a couple players and then immediately turn on a different game.

Here’s a solid lineup For DFS Hockey 2/9/22 (using DraftKings Values)

WingM. Stone$5,700

DefenseR. Josi$7,400
Defense
GoalieP. Grubauer$8,100
Utility

Phillip Grubauer signed an amazing contract with Seattle and immediately fell off a cliff. It was always going to be difficult going from Colorado’s vaunted offense to what became of Seattle’s defense, but there is still a good goalie in there. Arizona just got whacked last night by the Canucks and that presents a fantastic opportunity for Gruby to regain some confidence.

Roman Josi is clearly one of the best fantasy defense options out there. His FPPG is way ahead of everyone else and he is having a remarkable season.  A point per game blue liner is a rare beast.

Mark Stone is in a pretty comfy spot right now. Just a few years ago he was looking at suffering through an Ottawa Senators rebuild, until he was traded as part of it to Vegas. He wears the big golden C on his chest with pride and has quickly become one of the faces of what, in time, will be a storied franchise.

• Save a lot of money on Josi for someone who can still reach the same ceiling
• A quickly rising star at center who has battled through injury and dealt with a crappy team who is on the up and up
• A 22 year old goalie who has been a brick wall in the AHL gets another shot in the show. His older starter will be considered as well

Stuart Skinner is back in the NHL and he has had quite the success in the minors. This is not his first rodeo in the NHL where he has also posted solid numbers. Double check to see if he is starting because if he supplants Mike Smith, he will be a great value add. Smith is also worth a look since Edmonton is playing Chicago.

Alex Pietrangelo is among those that is ecstatic to hear that Jack Eichel is going to start taking contact soon. It remains to be seen how VGK navigates the salary cap, but an already deadly team is about to get more dangerous. Petey will still be out there getting it done until Jack is back.

Dylan Larkin has been very patient getting to the point he is at today. He was highly touted around his draft but getting stuck on the Red Wings has meant that his growth took a little longer than expected. He is finally becoming the player we all expected. While we may be more excited about Larky overall, you can save a couple hundred and get one of the most consistent guys in the league in Elias Lindholm.

You would do well to stack Chandler Stephenson with Stone as he just makes a habit of being in the right place at the right time. It would not be a true stack but William Karlsson is another golden choice from Vegas.

It has been a very long time since we were able to take Ryan Pulock. He is a king of blocked shots and has some catching up to do. The injury kept him out longer than expected but that also means they did not rush him back and are confident that he is at 100%.

We always love when there is straight fire several picks in a row at the right price point. Zach Hyman did us a solid the other day when we pointed out that his deployment is irrelevant and score a goal in limited minutes. Brock Boeser is slowly but surely regaining his touch and Travis Konecny has silenced critics and come back from the brutal season the Flyers had last year.

My how the week is flying by. We are planning our Super Bowl delicacies and are pretty excited about our signature Buffalo Chicken Dip. Maybe we will post our secret recipe on Twitter (@FantasyDFSX)? No, you would have to pay more than the pennies it costs for all this DFS goodness. One tip, though, is to not skimp on the celery. Have a great rest of the week!
