Our superstar bit us in the behind yesterday but we are not faulting Auston Matthews here. Even he cannot keep up a multi-goal per game pace. For that we are going back to finding you the cash to pick your favorite player to upgrade to. We have a lot of money left over after putting together a solid lineup today. Come check it out.

We are liking the New Jersey Devils quite a bit this year as they are overperforming expectations. It may not seem like it in the standings because they have fewer games played but as everyone gets healthy in front of Mackenzie Blackwood there is an outside chance they make the playoffs.

Here’s a devilishly stackable lineup For DFS Hockey 2/23/21 (using DraftKings Values)

CenterJ. Hughes $5,300
Center  $3,300
WingK. Palmieri                             $5,300
Wing  $5,900
Wing  $4,500
Defense  $6,500
Defense  $6,200
GoalieM. Blackwood $7,800
Utility  $2,500

Nico Hischier is back for the Devils and has finally put on his Captain sweater but he is still getting his legs underneath himself. Jack Hughes has been holding down the fort admirably in the time that Hischier has been gone and will continue to produce even if it is in a second line role.

Kyle Palmieri can be stacked with Hughes. He has popped off this season and has been an amazing physical and veteran presence for the young squad. With six points in his last four games and holding onto some top power play time means that the sky is still the limit.

Mackenzie Blackwood will be a Vezina finalist in the next few years. The young netminder has been fabulous and will be backstopping this franchise for the next decade. He may not be Martin Brodeur but there are shades of him there. New Jersey is lucky to have him.

Now what do you get if you sign up now?
Two huge blue-liners.
Another strong center-winger stack.
Options to swap in a high price baller.

Lars Eller – C ($3,300 DK). Eller is a sneaky play as he is going to spend a little time on the top line in Washington. It may not last long but we are jumping at the chance to get a cheap guy being paired with Alex Ovechkin and Tom Wilson.

Victor Olofsson – W ($5,900 DK) has been a bright spot on a dull Sabres team. He has as many points as Jack Eichel and actually has more power play points. We hate to say that this is the guy to swap out if you want Ovechkin or Kane.

Dominik Kubalik – W ($4,500 DK). Part of another stack we are putting together today, Kubalik has come back down to earth after a stellar rookie campaign. His shooting percentage is a little low though and we like his chances. He will find some consistency soon and we hope it starts tonight with our Utility player.

Jeff Petry – D ($6,500 DK). We are going big on defensemen today. Petry will be trying to avenge the loss to the Senators and bring the Canadiens back from a dangerous skid. He has nearly a point per game and brings it night in and night out.

Darnell Nurse – D ($6,400 DK). Let us talk about opportunities with Nurse. He is playing over 30 minutes a night right now which is absolute insanity. That time allows him to get more shots and blocks and will likely factor in on a goal or two. He is a lot like Petry except several years younger.

Lucas Wallmark – C ($2,500 DK) freaked us with the okey-doke last time we picked him and missed one more game. He is fully in the lineup now and is centering Kubalik on the second line. We have talked about their third linemate, Brandon Hagel, a few times now and are interested to see what the trio can put together.

Alternative Moves…

Alexander Ovechkin – W ($8,400 DK). Here are all the bonus players we can afford today. Pick your favorite! You know who Ovechkin is. Swap out Olofsson for him.

Leon Draisaitl – C ($7,900 DK). Swap out Hughes for Draisaitl. Another legend in the making, he may not be McDavid but he is a huge presence on the Oilers and a prolific point scorer.

Quinn Hughes – D ($5,700 DK). If you are still trying to afford McDavid we totally understand. Swap out either defenseman for stalwart assist getter Quinn Hughes. He may be the most consistent player we roster.

Good luck out there tonight there are going to be some crazy games. Hopefully we have set you up for success and gave you some wiggle room to go after your own sleeper picks. Pump us up on Twitter (@FantasyDFSX) and have an awesome day.
