NHL DFS Picks For February 22, 2022

Kirill Kaprizov

The Calgary Flames are a friggin’ wagon right now. Ten wins in a row in the NHL is astounding. The Montreal Canadiens upset the Toronto Maple Leafs for a season high three game win streak which everyone is happy about. The other big surprise was the Boston Bruins without star Brad Marchand, who was serving the final game of his suspension, beat the Colorado Avalanche. This league is awesome and we are happy to be wrong occasionally, especially when it means some of the big dogs get reined in.

Here’s a Long Island lineup For DFS Hockey 2/22/22 (using DraftKings Values)

CenterB. Nelson$4,700

DefenseN. Dobson$6,000
Defense
GoalieI. Sorokin$7,800
Utility

Ilya Sorokin has been handling the lions share of goalie duties while Semyon Varlamov has been in Covid protocol. They will get back to splitting time soon which will be some much needed rest for Sorokin. He is still playing well and even in games that he does not win he racks up saves. Seattle has been a bit of a pain for other teams recently, but the Islanders should be able to get the job done.

Right now we are wondering who the top center actually is. It could still be Mat Barzal, but we are moving our chips over to Brock Nelson. He has been on fire recently and has even earned top power play time. Stick with him while his price is low.

One more top power play guy in New York is Noah Dobson. He is their best offensive threat from the blue line as Adam Pelech and Ryan Pulock are better known for blocking shots. Dobson is coming up fast for a guy his size. Once he locks it in, he will be a force to be reckoned with.

Kirill Kaprizov and Timo Meier are easily the two best wingers on the board today. Mitch Marneris no slouch and has picked up his game a lot, but the other two are unrelenting battering rams in the offensive zone. While DFS does not count hits, it is still an important stat. Those two hit twice as much as Marner and use that to their advantage. Kaprizov has been piling on points and is facing a weak goalie in Ottawa. But, at the end of the day, Timo is way ahead in shots and for the savings we have to take him.

If you are going for the Wild and take Kaprizov then you might want to grab Joel Eriksson Ek. He is on a four game point streak and has come out of the All Star break with his foot on the gas. We are also looking at Sam Bennett here. With access to wingers like Jonathan Huberdeau it is no surprise that he is having a great season. If you did take Timo then stacking Logan Couture with him might be a good play as well.

We have highlighted Mackenzie Weegar before and mostly when Aaron Ekblad was not around. The haters thought he could not pull his own weight when Ekblad went down with a leg injury last year but he proved everyone wrong. The two together are frightening. Just watch the way Weegar cowboys over the boards every shift. He plays with an intensity that few can match.

If someone is going to beat Sorokin it might be Jordan Eberle. Did we not just shout him out? Oh right we picked him and Jared McCann yesterday and they combined for a goal, an assist, and 9 shots! Be wary of Mason Marchment here as his pace is very unsustainable for the minutes he gets.

There are not a whole lot of great wingers in this price range, but one more Panther can’t hurt, right? Anthony Duclair is all the way up on the top line in Florida and is killing it with Barkov. Duke has more goals than assists and now looking at his stats, we did not realize he was as close to a point per game as he is. Solid value.

We did not go after any Leafs today after they underplayed for us recently, but Michael Buntinglooks like a good play. He benefits whenever Matthews and Marner are crushing it and it does not look like he will be giving up that primo position any time soon. Tim Stutzle is the last one we will put up as we just noticed him hanging out down there. His confidence is growing every game and he is getting some swagger on his goals.

Happy 22222 day? We just want two for one tacos, thank you very much. Come hang out and give us a follow on Twitter (@FantasyDFSX) and have a great week.
