Watch out for the Chicago Blackhawks. They are a sneaky team that currently has a winning record thanks to an unheralded goalie that is leading a team full of talented youth to a much better record than anyone expected them to own. We will not be taking too many Hawks today but probably will be grabbing more of them in the not so distant future. Value is king in DFS hockey.
Here’s a deep dish lineup For DFS Hockey 2/15/21 (using DraftKings Values)

Center | Matthews | $8,800
Wing | $6,300 | ||
Wing | $2,900 | ||
Wing | $2,500 | ||
Defense | $5,300 | ||
Defense | $4,600 | ||
Goalie | K. Lankinen | $6,900
Utility | $2,500 |
Connor McDavid has had four days to rest. Take it to the bank. Pair him up with Auston Matthewsand you have an enormous ceiling. We promise we went the extra mile on our deep picks that can still chip in for you.
Kevin Lankinen is top ten in wins by goalies this year and we are still having trouble figuring out how he came out of nowhere. Chicago’s goaltender situation was supposed to be Malcolm Subban and Collin Delia and all of a sudden Kevin is out here as the clear starter. Let us take that sweet $800 savings and see who else we can add to our lineup.
Now what do you get if you sign up now?
• A veteran who spent some time on the IR poised to come back big.
• Our favorite consistent defenseman.
• Two deep science picks that we are truly excited about.
Andre Svechnikov – W ($6,300 DK). We are not sure why Svech is on the third line but his minutes as his minutes do not reflect that. He seems to be getting back into the groove of things and is in quite a goal drought. We are giving him the benefit of the doubt. He is too young to stay cold for too long.
Joe Thornton – W ($2,900 DK). Like MacKinnon yesterday, do not worry about his IR status. He will be activated and will be playing on Toronto’s top line. That sort of value is rare to come by so make it happen.
Rudolfs Balcers – W ($2,500 DK). Here is one of our extra deep picks for the day. He has had quite a journey around the globe and is on his second tour with the San Jose Sharks. His minutes do not look great but he is playing on the second line with Hertl and Meier and set up the former for a gorgeous goal last time. Look for his minutes to increase drastically tonight.
Quinn Hughes – D ($6,200 DK). Look, we always have him as an alternate because his name increases his price just a little too much for our liking on most days. We did call him out yesterday and he responded with a goal. We are hoping he has some more tricks up his sleeve to fake out his former netminder.
Noah Dobson – D ($4,600 DK) has been a shot machine and is seeing top power play time. The Islanders are playing a well-rested and maybe too well rested Buffalo team. We like Noah’s chances to get on the board tonight.
Brandon Hagel – W ($2,500 DK). It may look like Hagel’s ice time dropped but that was due to getting a major penalty for getting in a fight with Patrik Laine. Even being half a foot shorter though he knocked the Finn out and is an absolute spark plug on Chicago’s third line. He is heating up fast.
Alternative Moves…
Jack Eichel – C ($7,700 DK). McDavid is amazing but he is also incredibly expensive. Take a $1,300 savings to give yourself some more flexibility to boost your lineup wherever else you deem necessary.
Patric Hornqvist – W ($5,800 DK). Why the Penguins let this guy go we will never know. He has found a home with the Panthers and has been an absolute menace. It always feels like he should drop off but he has not.
Victor Hedman – D ($7,200 DK). Goals may not be his forte but doing a little bit of everything is. If you saved on McDavid you can upgrade one of your defensemen to this Swedish meatball. Skol!
As Bugs Bunny would say, “That’s all folks!”. Another day and another waterfall of hockey content. Did we miss your favorite player? Shout us out on Twitter (@FantasyDFSX) and tell us why we should have taken them. We hope you have a fantastic week.
