NHL DFS Picks For February 14, 2022

Austin Matthews DFS
TAMPA, FL - DECEMBER 13: Toronto Maple Leafs center Austin Matthews (34) reaches for a puck on the boards during the third period of an NHL game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Tampa Bay Lightning on December 13, 2018, at Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL. (Photo by Roy K. Miller/Icon Sportswire)

One of the greatest days of the year has come and gone. We get some of the gripes about the halftime show, but honestly that was a block party we would want to hang at. Props to the Rams and Aaron Donald who is our new favorite player. Respect to Burrows and the Bengals for achieving way more than anyone gave them credit for. Now all you football fans come watch some frickin’ hockey!

Here’s a moose-y lineup For DFS Hockey 2/14/22 (using DraftKings Values)

CenterA. Matthews$9,100
Center
WingW. Nylander$5,600

GoalieJ. Campbell$8,200
Utility

Jack Campbell dropped a stinker to the red hot Calgary Flames. That is not a huge deal to us, because they are on their own level right now. The Toronto Maple Leafs are still elevated above the rest and even though the Seattle Kraken occasionally pop off, we are confident that Campbell will bounce back and prevent that from happening.

Auston Matthews may  be the best goal scorer in the league right now. He has a few games in hand on the only two guys in front of this season and does not look like he is slowing down. The Krakens goaltending is going to have a rough night.

We could try and go after Mitch Marner but we are going for a full spread of the Leafs today. William Nylander has been a consistent presence on the second line and comes at a steep discount.

Is it because San Jose has not played in two weeks that Logan Couture is priced at $3,500? That straight up does not make sense. Just take him, that is some juicy value.

Prospects were never really on our radar until the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. As we were perusing some early mock drafts and predictions we could not help but notice a guy slated to go late in the first round and that did not add up for us. Moritz Seider was ultimately drafted 6th overall and only a couple years later is churning out highlight reel hits and looks like he has been in the league for ten years. What a gem.

For your second defenseman we are playing the old game of high ceiling or high floor? Winnipeg has a perfect pair in a great price range with Josh Morrissey and Nate Schmidt. The last two games that Morrissey scored a point in, he ended with a multi-point night. Those two games have a few others in between, but he is capable. Schmidt just racks up blocked shots and usually manages to fire off a couple as well.

For some  more wingers, our eyes are drawn towards Zach Hyman and Ilya Mikheyev. We have talked at length about the merits of Hyman while Mikheyev does not get the same amount of love that he deserves. He has only played 16 games so far but already has 7 goals. In his last game he did not get a point but not for lack of trying. He ripped 5 shots off and had a great game.

What to do with all the rest of the money on hand? Kevin Fiala of the Minnesota Wild fame? He was the hot new thing until Kirill Kaprizov showed up. He is still fire and worth an add.  Do you save even more and go after the notorious Evander Kane? He has come out hot and has been soaking up prime minutes with the best player in the world.

That final drive by Stafford and Kupp was legendary. We are going to be full for two days. It’s amazing we were able to get out of the coma to write this thing. Twitter (@FantasyDFSX). Rest. Digest.
