NHL DFS Picks For December 2, 2021

Nate Mackinnon DFS
DENVER, CO - JANUARY 13: Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon (29) skates during a game between the St. Louis Blues and the Colorado Avalanche at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado on January 13, 2021. (Photo by Dustin Bradford/Icon Sportswire)

We had a feeling yesterday that the Anaheim Ducks were going to come out big and they sure delivered. A huge win over the Vegas Golden Knights probably earned them an optional skate today. We also touched on how the Vancouver Canucks are starting to turn things around. We feel great going after J.T. Miller last night who crushed it for us, we do want to pump the brakes a little bit since they played one of the worst teams in the league. They may get there but there is a long road ahead of them.

For the same reasons we chose the Ducks yesterday we have to go after the Colorado Avalanche. We were also glad we did not go after many people from that matchup as it could have been a blowout on either side. The poor Canadiens won’t know what hit them. Keep an eye on the Hurricanes, Sharks and the Capitals as well.

Here’s an elevated lineup For DFS Hockey 12/2/21 (using DraftKings Values)

CenterN. MacKinnon$8,700
Center
WingT. Meier$7,000

GoalieI. Samsonov$8,400

Nathan MacKinnon missed almost a month and came out of the gate with two assists and five shots. Welcome back, bud. We would like to see him score goals and lots of them. The league is better overall when Nate is in it and the Avalanche just got a lot scarier. Do not mind the loss to the Maple Leafs who are riding sky high right now.

Today’s goalie selection is just as difficult as yesterdays. Pay top price for Bobrovsky? We cannot justify Raanta’s salary right now as much as we like him and think he can get the win. We are going to settle on Ilya Samsonov who has had an immense start to the season. It does not save the most cash, but that option you need to shell out a couple bucks for. The Caps should handle the Hawks no problem.

Timo Meier is on an absolute tear right now. His last five games would probably help you win money with over five shots per. On top of that he is getting goals and assists and the Sharks are humming. They play the lowly Islanders today who have had some time off but are also one of the most injury/covid plagued teams in the league. Hopefully, none of the Sharks catch anything other than the back of the net.

It is looking like Darcy Kuemper will stay on the sidelines today for maintenance. That means the Avalanche will have to dig deep to not have Jonas Johansson play two nights in a row. Look for the Justus Annunen call up and pay nothing for a goalie. It is as low risk as you can get with their offense against a weak Canadiens team. Do you want to afford Alex Ovechkin? This is how you afford Ovechkin.

Devon Toews is seeing his price rise slower than what he is capable of. Keep grabbing him until he hits the mid $6,000’s. He was quiet last night but will be kicking into gear with tonight’s juicy matchup.

We need to start reaching deeper into the barrel to afford all these amazing players so choose between Joe Pavelski and Josh Anderson. Pavelski has been picking it up fast. He feels like the Stars version of J.T. Miller who we highlighted as a veteran presence yesterday. We do not normally like taking guys who can score on the goalies we choose but let’s be real here. Annunen is still an AHL goalie and a shutout is unlikely. The Canadiens will be taking their shots.

Sean Durzi fooled us and stayed up with the big club even when Drew Doughty came back. We are not sure who got scratched to make that happen but it does not matter. The Kings believe in Durzi and he is producing. At that price point there is no risk to you.

Carter Verhaege still strikes us as too cheap. It has only been a couple games since he scored a point and that top line is clicking. He will do right by you.

We have a couple of fun, cheap centers to play with. You could even toss one in your utility spot and your budget will be perfect. Alex Newhook is the cheaper one and it is his linemates that intrigue us. Logan O’Connor was top line while MacKinnon was out and will be playing as hard as ever. Cole Sillinger is still sub $4,000 and plays on the second line in Columbus. We have talked about him before, this guy has Calder potential.

Thursday is upon us and we have some fun plans for the weekend. We hope you are getting your ducks in order and are getting your picks in. Check us out kn Twitter (@FantasyDFSX) and may your Fridays be devoid of any work.
