NHL DFS Picks For December 14, 2021

Covid continues to wreak havoc on the NHL season with the only game scheduled yesterday being postponed for having too many players in the protocols. It feels like it is going to be a bumpy ride for the rest of the season with some Canadian cities considering not allowing fans into buildings. On top of that, the Olympic dream may be falling apart for a lot of these athletes. The quarantine requirements China is putting in place mean players could have to end up spending a month and a half away from everyone halfway across the world.

With 14 games on the slate today we are not even going to try and break any of that down. We will let our intuition guide us where we need to make our moves. The first opportunity that pops up is over in San Jose. The Sharks host the Kraken and we believe that this epic ocean battle will end with the many legged creature sinking into the briny deep.

Here’s a jaw-some lineup For DFS Hockey 12/14/21 (using DraftKings Values)

WingT. Meier$7,200

GoalieJ. Reimer$8,100

San Jose made some bold moves in the goaltending department after a couple lackluster years from the likes of Jones and Dubnyk. Hill is not playing tonight in favor of veteran netminder James Reimer. If anyone put money on Reimertron having a sub two GAA at this point in the season, they would be rich. He is crushing it and few people are noticing.

We also cannot help but notice that Thomas Hertl is going for less than $5,000. He is playing like a top line center and gobbles up power play time when it is given to him. Take a look at his last four games and tell us he is not worth that price.

Timo Meier at least is reasonably priced. It takes a lot to end up being priced at over $7,000. You might notice that two games ago he did not score any points, which might seem weird for a player who is well over a point per game. That is until you see he got 6 shots. He is a beast.

Sam Bennett will keep the top center spot in Florida for the time being. Barkov was placed back on IR and will be unavailable for a couple of games. He won a ton of faceoffs last game and managed three shots on goal which is great for the team, but not necessarily for the fantasy owner. We love his pairing with Jonathan Huberdeau though.

We are back to Dougie Hamilton for our top D spot. It is always worth spending the time digging for cheaper backups when guys like this have the ceiling that they do. We were going to go with Mario Ferraro at first who is a fan favorite in San Jose right now. We also noticed Nic Haguehanging around. His stat line has not been the most impressive lately but a game against the Bruins might be what brings out the best in him.

Our next two wingers briefly shared a team for a year. Brandon Saad has been sent to St. Louis since then and has been performing admirably while Andre Burakovsky has been having himself a career week. Saad has been more quiet of late but is due for a resurgence when Ryan O’Reilly finds his game again.

Jakub Voracek makes way too much real life money for his production but he is a fantasy stud due to the sheer volume of assists he gets. It is pretty close to one a game which is not a floor we find very often.

It turns out we have more cash left than we realized. We are going after another of our favorite defensemen. Jacob Trouba and Mackenzie Weegar play some of the most physical hockey in the league.

Back into the swing of things we are. You know what fuels that drive and passion? That’s right, tacos. Let’s get those tortilla presses out and get to marinating some pork. You will not find recipes on our Twitter (@FantasyDFSX), but there is lots of awesome info on all the sports we have on offer. Have a great day.
