Ilya Sorokin

For a handful of teams, the final countdown has begun. We are getting down to the final ten games of the season. The end of the regular season will be April 29th before a short break, then the magic. Will Auston Matthews hit 60 goals? How many 100 point players can we sneak in under the wire? Both the New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs can claim a berth in the first round if the New York Islanders lose today. Let’s root for the underdog here.

Here’s a Long Island lineup For DFS Hockey 4/8/22 (using DraftKings Values)

DefenseN. Dobson$5,500

GoalieI. Sorokin$7,300

Ilya Sorokin missed a few games to what was likely a mild concussion and should be starting tonight. The play that happened looked like just a puck deflecting off the side of his mask which did not seem bad at first. We figured he was taken out as a precaution, but did end up missing some time. Do not let that stand in the way of his fantastic stats this year and a system that is designed to protect the goalie. The Islanders are far from done this season.

Brock Nelson is the de facto number one on Long Island with Mat Barzal barely winning faceoffs or getting shots on net. Nelson has been a consistent force for years on this team and we are glad he is getting the most ice time. He deserves it.

Noah Dobson, likewise, has earned his top power play time. He may not show as top pairing due to Adam Pelech and Ryan Pulock taking those honors, but they are there for defense only and to protect Sorokin. They may not work on the fantasy scoresheet, but they are fantastic players in real life. Dobson is the one who will get you those sweet, sweet points.

Ville Husso will cost a couple dollars more, but the security from it is nice. The Wild are no easy task, but the Blues are crushing it and so is he. Jordan Binnington is in the rear view mirror and the net is all Husso’s.

Save a whopping $100 and take Sam Bennett. The Panthers seem unstoppable and centering Jonathan Huberdeau is just paying dividends left and right. No need to overpay on center today. Heck you can probably afford both. If you do need one cheaper option, check out Robert Thomaswho is on absolute fire right now.

Let’s clear up your defense before diving into wingers. Two super cheap guys are on our radar right now. Gustav Forsling is yet another hidden gem buried in Florida. He is young and ready to rock. We also haven’t taken Matt Grzlyck or Mike Reilly in a bit. Hampus Lindholm is out and one of them will be getting some more responsibility tonight.

The Nose Faced Killah Brad Marchand is, on fact, a rat bastard. You love him when he is on your team though. His pairing with Patrice Bergeron is one of the likeliest to score a short handed goal or lick the competition.

We called on Mats Zuccarello recently for his pairing with Kirill Kaprizov and he delivered. He is one of those guys with an infectiously fun personality and when he is having fun, he produces.

Jake DeBrusk is finally doing the thing. It has taken way too long, but it’s happening. It’s a tough matchup against TB, but if he really wants to prove it, this is the place to do it. Anthony Duclairand Kevin Fiala continue to be the complementary pieces that every team wishes they had.

It is time to kick back and have a cold one. Get those picks in and have a great weekend. Twitter (@FantasyDFSX). Peace.
