NHL DFS Picks For April 5, 2022

Sebastian Aho
MONTREAL, QC - OCTOBER 21: Sebastian Aho (20) of the Carolina Hurricanes skates during the second period of the NHL game between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Montreal Canadiens on October 21, 2021, at the Bell Centre in Montreal, QC (Photo by Vincent Ethier/Icon Sportswire)

The Toronto Maple Leafs walked into Amalie Arena and snuffed out the Tampa Bay Lightning. Auston Matthews blew open the scoring race and put up another three goals. They play again tonight and we honestly have no idea who to pick. We are just going to watch this game and not take anyone from it so we can just enjoy the spectacle. Can they take down both juggernaut Florida teams back-to-back? Does Matthews have another hat trick in him? Those are both serious questions. He was just toying with the Bolts last night. Unreal.

Here’s a jerky lineup For DFS Hockey 4/5/22 (using DraftKings Values)

With the craziness happening in the eastern division, everyone seems to have forgotten about the Carolina Hurricanes. Sebastian Aho and crew are not getting the praise that they are due. Aho has notched another 30 goal season in his belt and is cruising towards another 82 point season. How is this guy in any way underrated?

Andre Svechnikov would lead all fantasy point getters if we scored hits. The definition of a power forward, Svech just manhandles competition and is a big ole security blanket for Aho. No one is messing with them. He happens to also be super skilled. He is only a few goals away from 30 himself and if you look at his shot totals you will see that it will not be long before it happens.

Freddie Andersen’s numbers come straight from chel. If you do not know what that is, it is the NHL video game that die hard fans cannot get enough of. His numbers are gorgeous and Carolina also happens to be known as a defensive minded team. They have serious cup aspirations and are poised to make a deep run.

• A recent slide for a defenseman is an opportunity for both of you
• Take a risk and swap out Aho for this other 30 goal scorer that no one else is taking
• Andersen’s ceiling is limited by shots seen. This cheaper goalie will be facing a firing squad tonight

We were seriously considering Tony DeAngelo to complete the Cane set, but we are actually very interested in Adam Fox. Last time we talked about him, we urged caution because we were concerned with a lingering injury. That may be the case, but he is putting up 24-25 minute nights. He just fell under a point per game and he has to be itching to get back to that. The Devils are not known for their prowess in net, and Fox is hungry.

Daily Fantasy Sports has tight margins. How are you going to win if you take who everyone else is taking? You might think that Josh Norris and the Ottawa Senators are not a great bet, but guess who just got his first hatty? Norris is a bonafide number one center and this Francophone tilt between the Sens and the Habs should be a fun one. Neither is going to the playoffs, but pride is more important here.

Speaking of bonafide number ones, Nick Suzuki will be on the other side of the faceoff dot to begin this game and these two are going to get into some battles. Suzuki does not have as many goals as we would like but it is not for lack of trying. Shots are consistently high suggesting just a little bit of bad puck luck. He is two away from 20 and needs to find the back of the net.

Elvis Merzlikins has lost six in a row, but has maintained excellent fantasy points. He is not the reason the Blue Jackets are losing. The Flyers may see a wounded animal, but do not back these guys into a corner. They are going to be frustrated with last night’s loss to the Bruins and are going to come out with red in their eyes.

Tyson Barrie is on one right now. The Oilers are on a four game win streak and are playing a Sharks team that looks dead in the water. You could go after Evan Bouchard who is getting his shot totals higher, but Edmonton is trusting the elder statesman with the push to the playoffs.

It is time to start putting together the easter basket of wingers. Our first one is Taylor Hall, who, if we are honest, looked like a rabbit on ice last night. He was flopping all over the place, unable to stay on his own skates. To be fair, he was attempting some silly trix, but he needs to pull it together tonight. Old faithful Zach Hyman is still the perfect price point and, ok, we do have to take one Florida player today. Claude Giroux is crazy cheap and he is no fan of the Maple Leafs.

We are headed to Costco for popcorn. We are getting the pallet this time. Is it Taco Tuesday already? We have tried not to hype it too much recently, but we have some fresh peppers, tortillas, and some mighty fine citrus to spritz on it. Muy bien. Twitter (@FantasyDFSX) can be found here and we can be found…who knows where, it is a busy day. See you tomorrow to report on tonight’s bloodbath. Hasta mañana.
