Things are coming to a head as we get closer and closer to the playoffs. Who saw Seattle beating the almighty Colorado last night? Not me. Not many. We have relatively small four-game slate of games today to work with. Picking goalies is a bit tricky but I’ve got my thoughts.

Here’s a core lineup For DFS Hockey 4/20/22 (using DraftKings Values)

CenterLeon Draisaitl$8,600
Center
WingTom Wilson$4,300

DefenseCale Makar$7,900
Defense
Goalie
Utility

Leon Draisaitl at $8,600 is a spendy play but at this stage of the season do I really have to explain this one. The SOB scores. Period. Is he Mc Jesus? No. But he’s damn close and his team has turned their issues around at the right time of the year.

Tom Wilson plays with the Great 8 and gets all sorts of other goodies in terms of FPTS. At $4,300, he stands out as a value today. Do I want him on my Flyers? Nope – but he’s a productive player in the DFS world and that’s what I am preaching about here people. We need some value and performance and this is one of my calls.

Cale Makar at $7,900 isn’t a bargain but I hate to NOT pick this guy every time he plays. He’s SO EXPENSIVE that you’ve got to make sacrifices elsewhere and I did (did you not buck up $15 to see my full lineup advice – shame on you). This guy is the biggest stud on the blueline in the NHL.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is a nice value at $4,500 on an Edmonton team that is peaking at the right time. I’d prefer Kadri but I can’t make the budget work but he’s been a horse for me all year. I don’t trust Berniers yet because he plays on SUCH a bad team (I don’t care what they did last night – they stink). I love Tim Stuetzle but he’s out hurt so forget about that play.

Who could fault you for picking Alex Ovechkin as he tried to notch another 50 goal season. My issue isn’t performance but budget because I want Leon and Cale more. Nichushkin is a good value and has been a nice play the second half of the year. Phil Kessel plays on about the worst team in the NHL but can streaky thus for $3,700 is a GPP-guy today. Jake Voracek is a fan favorite in Philly even after he’s gone but he doesn’t ever score. He’s a pass first guy but at his price he calls out to me.

On the blueline, I picked Cale Makar for big money above so I am going with Bowen Byram at $3,700 to pair with him. On an even deeper discount – how about Sam Girard at $2,700. When he get traded for next year, expect big things from him going forward. I think Darnel Nurse is overpriced tonight. I’d buck up for Makar over John Carlson but that is just me.

Today’s lineups for goalie don’t make me see many great lineup thus I am leaning towards the most expensive guy on the board in MA Fleury at $8,500. I need that win that I didn’t get last night from Carey Price. Kuemper might get the start – keep an eye on that. Also I. Samsonov is a possible pick vs. a terrible Arizona team. I still like the flower.
