Winners And Losers From NFL DFS Week 7

Winners:

Joe Mixon, RB CIN-

I’m just gonna let the stat line do most of the talking here. Rushing, Mixon took 22 carries for 153 yards and 4 touchdowns. Mixon was also a factor in the passing game, catching 4 balls for 58 yards and adding another touchdown, bringing Mixon’s total stats on the day to 200+ yards and 5 total touchdowns. Just how good was Mixon yesterday? If you applied fantasy stats to every single NFL game ever, Mixon’s performance yesterday is good for the sixth best fantasy game by a running back eve, and the best fantasy performance since Alvin Kamara had six touchdowns in 2020. This is, more than likely, going to end up as the best game of the season by any player, and Mixon almost certainly won people their lineups yesterday. Mixon was already a top ten running back before yesterday, I’d consider him top 5 moving forward.

Justin Fields, QB CHI-

Fields might be one of the most fascinating fantasy players around. He’s a young QB on a team that is in a key rebuild year, aka the ceiling is low. On top of that, Fields isn’t a strong passer when compared to other NFL QB’s. Despite this, Fields had a record day on Sunday, setting the NFL QB single game rushing record and tossing 3 TD’s to boot. I think it’s time to give Chicago’s young offensive leader some respect, a tight loss against Miami marks the third straight game Chicago’s offense has played far above expectations. I still don’t think Chicago is a good team, but they have an underrated O lead by an underrated QB, look for Fields to be a solid play going forward this year.

Garret Wilson, WR NYJ-

Wilson racked up 8 catches for 92 yards in the Jet’s best win in years against the Bills. Wilson has established himself as the number one option on this Jets team, leading in targets, receptions, routes run, and receiving yards. He might lack the sexiness guys like Cooper Kupp and Travis Kelce offer, but he is consistent as Zach Wilson often looks to Wilson for medium chunk plays. The result is a high number of receptions for an above average amount of yards, on average. Look for Wilson (Garret Wilson, that is) to be a solid play for the rest of the year after torching one of the best defenses in Buffalo.

Losers-

Aaron Rodgers, QB GB-

What’s the opposite of “relaxxxx”? Because that’s what they should be saying in Green Bay. Like Tom Brady, Rodgers is now playing at his historical worse, losing in Detroit for the second straight year. In recent Green Bay history, we think of Aaron being the guy who offsets Green Bay’s weakness. This year, even with a terrible receiving core, Rodgers might be the weakness himself. He tossed three picks against the worst defense in the league indoors. The Packers now have to face off against the best D in the league when Dallas visits them next Sunday. I just don’t see any Packers player being a good play for the rest of the year, this team lacks hope.

Josh Jacobs, RB LV-

The Raiders stink, but they do have intriguing weapons on their offense, coordinated by the solid offensive mind of Josh McDaniels. You would think that at least a couple of guys would cement themselves as top 10 in their positions. We thought Josh Jacobs, the ex Alabama RB had done that, checking in as a top 5 fantasy RB through seven weeks. Now, a day after week 9, Jacobs has had two miserable performances as the Raiders fall apart. This team is deeply problematic, offensively, defensively, organizationally, morally, socially, ect. Outside of Adams with explicitly good matchups, I’d stay away from Raiders plays.
