NFL DFS Main Slate Week 5 Value at Flex Advice for October 10, 2021

Dalvin Cook DFS Running Back
MINNEAPOLIS, MN - SEPTEMBER 13: Minnesota Vikings Running Back Dalvin Cook (33) stiff arms Green Bay Packers Safety Darnell Savage (26) during the 1st quarter of a National Football League game between the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers on September 13, 2020, at US Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, MN.(Photo by Nick Wosika/Icon Sportswire)

Every week we need to find value for our lineup.  Say I am looking to stack Aaron Rodgers with Davante Adams against Cincinnati this week, their salaries would cost over 25 percent of my cap space. In order for that move, we need a few cheap plays in our flex and other positions of our slate.

Last week we suggested Cordarrelle Patterson was still way too underpriced. He produced  a whopping 3 touchdown, 34 FPTS game at a mere $4,900 on DraftKings. Well here we are in week 5, let’s find some more value. Sit back and relax. Simply plug and play, let us do the numbers crunching for you.

Kadarius Toney ($4,000 DK/$5,300 FD) The New York Giants rookie saw nine targets and catching six for 78 yards. Quarterback Daniel Jones has taken a liking to him in the absence of starters Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton due to their injuries, in which they will both be ruled out for a second straight week. The Giants will be playing from behind against the Cowboys so expect Toney to receive a fair amount of balls thrown in his direction.

Quarterback Value:

Trevor Lawrence ($5,800 DK/$6,500 FD) gets the Tennessee Titans at home, who have one of the worst secondaries in the league. We watched the Jets’ rookie  Zach Wilson throw for 297 yards and two touchdowns, pulling off the upset beating Tennessee 27-24. This year’s number one pick will get back on track on this soft defense which allow 267 passing yards and 28 points per game.

Running Back Value:

Alexander Mattison ($5,500 DK/$6,500 FD)***Keep an eye on the status of Dalvin Cook who has been bothered by an ankle injury suffered two weeks ago. If he sits, Mattison will be in a premium spot against the horrendous run defense of the Lions who have a rushing DVOA of 112 yards per game. But be prepared to pivot elsewhere if Cook plays or becomes a timeshare at RB this week for Minnesota.

James Conner ($5,600 DK/$6,300 FD)***Another injury situation to monitor. Connor may be the bell cow back this Sunday for Arizona if Chase Edmonds sits out with a sore shoulder. But even while splitting the backfield, Connor has been the goal-line back and has scored four touchdowns in two games.

Damien Williams ($5,600 DK/$5,800 FD) Should be the feature back for Chicago filling in for David Montgomery who went on IR this week. He ran for 55 yards on 8 carries with a touchdown and also caught 2 balls for 15 yards after Montgomery went down. Rookie Justin Fields has been named the starter moving forward and should lean on the short passes and hand-offs to the running backs as he gets more comfortable in the league.

Wide Receiver Value:

Laviska Shenault Jr. ($4,800 DK/$5,800 FD) crushed the stat sheet last Monday night with 6 grabs for 99 yards. He also had a nice 11 yard rush in a gadget play for Jacksonville. When fellow receiver D. J. Chark broke his ankle early in the game, Shenault stepped up for the opportunity and made some crucial catches in a close game with Cincinnati, and with Chark on IR, he will gain even more of the target share and great matchup against Tennessee.

Adam Humphries ($3,300 DK/$4,700 FD) Washington’s receiver core has fallen off a cliff. Besides Terry McLaurin, Humphries is the only viable receiver left on the roster who has had been involved in the offense since week one. He Usually lines up in the slot and should be heavily involved this week due to the amount of injuries as well as McLaurin getting most of the defensive attention.

Tight End Value:

Mike Gesicki ($4,200 DK/$5,600 FD) In Miami it’s been a mess since they lost Tua Tagovailoa, but Gesicki has been seeing his production go up with back-up Jacoby Brissett. In the past two weeks Gesicki has seen 18 targets catching 15 of them for 143 yards and a touchdown. He does get Tampa this week, but they tend to be generous to opposing tight ends, ranking 29th in the NFL.
