We’re almost at halfway through the season and the bye weeks are taking a toll on our options. Week seven we lose the Bills, Chargers, Cowboys, Vikings, Steelers, and Jaguars. No worries, we have you covered for defense even though there will be slim pickings on the main slate. But we may have to reach down in our pockets to spend a little extra this week. Let’s check out who are the safest and most reliable defenses on Sunday.
L. A. Rams ($5,000 DK/$4,900 FD) are at home against the winless Lions, who are looking at an 0 and seven record this week. Aaron Donald has been unable to contain on the defensive line and Jaylen Ramsey has shut down wide receivers left and right. There is also the narrative for a Matt Stafford revenge game as he may look to pour it on his former team. This is the safest among the slate this week, so I highly recommend in cash games.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($4,000 DK/$4,400 FD) get to play rookie Justin Fields and the Bears in week 7. Fields will be forced to throw the ball on Sunday as the Bucs rank first in stopping the run. The rookie signal caller has struggled all year completing only 53 percent of his passes and holds a craptastic rating of 23.2. Fire the cannons for the Bucs defense.
New England Patriots ($3,400 DK/$5,000 FD) are at home for the one and six Jets. In week two in New York they held the Jets to only two field goals and picked off rookie Zack Wilson four times before the half for a total of 19 FPTS.
The Pats are coming off a tough loss to the Cowboys where their defense was on the field for a decent amount of time, but look for them to get back on track against New York.
Arizona Cardinals ($3,000 DK/$5,000) Square off against another one win team Houston Texans. Rookie Davis Mills has been hot and cold, and we do not really know which one of them will show up on Sunday. But we do know there is an outlier of another revenge game for defensive end J. J. Watt and wide out DeAndre Hopkins. This will be a statement game to Houston for them to see the talent they let drift away frivolously over the past few seasons. Not so much of a discount on FanDuel though, so you may want to consider only on DraftKings.
