NFL DFS Main Slate Defense Advice – Week 18

Dalvin Cook DFS Running Back
MINNEAPOLIS, MN - SEPTEMBER 13: Minnesota Vikings Running Back Dalvin Cook (33) stiff arms Green Bay Packers Safety Darnell Savage (26) during the 1st quarter of a National Football League game between the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers on September 13, 2020, at US Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, MN.(Photo by Nick Wosika/Icon Sportswire)

As the regular season comes to an end this weekend, the playoff picture is almost complete. Green Bay is the only team so far to lock up a first round bye, and will most likely be sitting their starters. The rest in contention will have something to play for whether its home field advantage, a first round bye in the AFC, or just to get in to the playoffs.

We can use this knowledge to our advantage when deciding on a defense for our lineups. Who needs to win, who is resting their studs, and who is just looking to get a better pick in the draft…

Indianapolis Colts ($3,800 DK/$4,300 FD) Simply win and get in for Indy. They will be in Jacksonville to finish off the Jags, who are coming off a 50 – 10 blow out from the Pats. The Colts are pricey, but well worth it since they need the dub to stay in the playoff race.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($4,000 DK/$4,200 FD) Brady and the Bucs will be home to secure the second seed and home field against the Panthers. Whoever is under center from Sam Darnold to Cam Newton, will see tremendous pressure and may spend half of the game on their backs. Carolina has nothing to play for nor anything to spoil for Tampa, so many rookies may be starting the second half.

Tennessee Titans ($3,300 DK/$4,700 FD) Will get a nice match up in Houston to end the season. If they win, they are the first seed. The Titans have stepped up their game on defense towards the end of the year, especially last week as they put up 16 FPTS. Miami was blown out 34-3 as Tua was pick sixed, fumbled, and sacked four times. The Houston rookie quarterback Davis Mills and the Texans will have their work cut out for them at home.

Washington Football Team ($3,100 DK/$5,000 FD) In a meaningless game to wrap up 2021-22, the Football Team visit Jake Fromm and the Giants at MetLife.

A team that gave up 25 FPTS to the Bears last week. An organization which needs to entirely start from scratch, the Giants will look to lose in order to move up in the draft.

Cleveland Browns ($2,600 DK/$4,500 FD) Yes the Browns are out of the playoffs, but the Bengals are resting their starters. No Burrow or Mixon this week, which is a huge fade to Cincinnati receivers as well. Garrett and Clowney will feast at the cost of back up Brandon Allen.

Super Cheap Punt Play:

Detroit Lions ($2,400 DK/$3,000 FD) The Lions have been out of contention for a while, but they get to face a Green Bay team whose starters will be watching from the sidelines. The Packers locked the number one seed and have no reason to roll anyone out for four quarters to risk any sort of injury. Detroit defense is a dark horse defense against the Packers practice squad on Sunday.
