NFL DFS AFC Conference Championship (CIN @ KC) Showdown Advice

Fresh off their thrilling overtime win over the Bills, the red hot Kansas City Chiefs host the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship game. A win will send them to Los Angeles for their third straight Super Bowl, but they will have to get past the comeback player of the year Joe Burrow, who lit them up a few weeks ago for over 400 passing yards and four touchdowns. Mahomes and the Chiefs will be looking for payback at home, and has been on fire this post season throwing for over 700 yards and eight touchdowns.

In a projected high scoring game with a total of 55, Kansas City laying out 7-7.5 points, using both quarterbacks in the same lineup would be ideal, but difficult especially on DraftKings. Definitely do able though, it’s just a matter of finding some value, and it’s on every slate.

Here’s a look at an AFC Championship Showdown Core (CIN @ KC) (Using DraftKings Values)

Captain/MVP:

(Cash) Tyreek Hill ($16,200 DK/$13,500 FD) The Cheifs will come out guns blazing and look to put the Bengals away early. Hill will snag huge chunks of yardage in the secondary, as we saw AJ Brown of Tennessee last week roast the Bengals for close to 200 receiving yards. “The Cheetah” is back, catching 11 for 150 and a TD against Buffalo last week.

(GPP) Tyler Boyd ($7,200 DK/$9,000 FD) The Bengals’ third option at wideout is capable of having another nice game, as Chase and Higgins will draw most of the defensive attention. They will not be Tyreek Hill or Ja’Marr Chase numbers for Boyd, but at Captain for DK he will allow you to fit Mahomes and Burrow in your Flex. He caught four for 36 and a touchdown in Week 17 against the Chiefs.

Fade:

Defenses and Kickers…. We will have another shootout on Sunday, these teams both like to put the ball in the air.

Other Studs We Like:

Travis Kelce ($8,800 DK/$14,000 FD) KC’s 1B option, if Hill doesn’t get the ball thrown in his direction, most likely will be to Kelce.

Ja’Marr Chase ($10,000 DK/$13,000 FD) Burrow’s first line of attack, he’s a target funnel. Undefendable  in his rookie season, his speed and size has dominated opponents when he gets the football.

Tee Higgins ($7,800 DK/$11,000 FD) Say Chase does get bracketed and taken away by the Chiefs, Higgins will be his beneficiary in that case. He’s been quiet, but resurfaced last week catching seven for 96 yards.

Careful…Joe Mixon ($9,000 DK/$12,500 FD) Joe’s been solid all year for the Bengals, rushing for 1,300 yards and 14 touchdowns, but his high salary is risky to take on in a game where Cincinnati may abandon the run. Mixon will get his, but may not be enough in DFS.

Value Plays:

Jerrick McKinnon ($5,000 DK/$10,000 FD) He’s the Chiefs’ change of pace running back, and filled in for the injured CEH and Darrel Williams nicely. Scoring a touchdown and catching 11 for 140 yards out of the backfield, there’s no reason for coach Andy Reid to sit him.

Mecole Hardman ($4,600 DK/$8,000 FD) The emergence of Byron Pringle has moved Hardman down KC’s depth chart. That also drove down his salary, which we’ll take any discount we can get on this slate. Hardman found pay dirt last week and finished with 12 fantasy points.

Noah Gray ($800 DK/$6,000 FD) We just need him to catch one 20 yard pass for the Chiefs’ third string to hit. He caught two for 14 last week. In multiple games this season he’s been targeted.

General Strategy:

The Chiefs should blow the Bengals away this weekend, but in the NFL these days, who knows. We saw Aaron Rodgers at home last week not throw one single touchdown pass at home. If you want to fade one of the QB’s to have more action on one side of the game, keep Mahomes. Burrow has not found his rhythm in the post season, and has been winning with field goals and breaks on defense. When I’m doing take the home team quarterback.
