Tonight’s showdown between the Bucks and the Heat is giving us a nice teaser for what we can expect come playoff time. Showdown slates become much more important in the playoffs as often they are the only thing available. We rely on a completely different strategy for showdowns, as there are a few core differences. One being that we are relying on our captain pick. There are only so many ways to take your lineup in Showdown and typically who you captain will define everything else. We have two core strategies, captaining a superstar for the raw points, or captaining a cheaper play so we can fit everyone we might want. The other big difference with showdown slates is the minimum price is only $1,000 so it is a lot more enticing to go for punt plays.

Here’s a showdown lineup For DFS Basketball 5/15/21 (using DraftKings Values)

CaptainB. Adebayo $14,700
UtilityG. Antetokounmpo $12,600
UtilityJ. Jackson $1,000
UtilityJ. Holiday $9.600
UtilityT. Herro $6,600
UtilityT. Ariza $5,400

We have a lot of options for Captain tonight, but it is hard to pick a favorite until we know who ends up playing tonight. As of now the only injury news we have is a few questionable tags, however we expect some guy’s rest tonight given the two teams that are playing. The reason we went for Bam Adebayo is we think it is very likely the Heat end up resting some guys tonight. If a few of the big names are out Adebayo has a ton of upside. He is also cheap enough that in captaining him we are not really limited at all elsewhere.

It is certainly possible that Giannis Antetokounmpo ends up resting tonight. If Antetokounmpo ends up in he will be a lock for this showdown. Antetokounmpo will be the most popular captain if he plays, and that is a great direction for cash games. However, even if you are not captaining Antetokounmpo it is hard to justify not rostering him.   Keep an eye on the news here, as a lot of guys look better if the Bucks decide to rest some big names.

The minimum price on DraftKings is only $1,000. Which makes us a lot more attracted to cheap punts like Jeff TeagueTeague has been subpar all season for DFS, but he is still a tempting value option at this price. All we need is about 10 FPTS here, and we saw Teague go for 10.8 FPTS last game. Teague allows us to play whoever we want for the rest of the lineup. If some Bucks end up out tonight, value plays like Teague will become a lot more important.

Since we are not captaining Antetokounmpo, we are able to roster whoever we want elsewhere. Jrue Holiday is a priority for us as he is one of the highest scoring options we have. Holiday just went for over 50 FPTS, which would make him a must play on this showdown. Holiday is our favorite captain play if Antetokounmpo ends up out and he is in.

A few guys are questionable for the Miami Heat tonight, and we are expecting to see some players rested here. Tyler Herro has been good lately, and we love getting to him if the Heat are missing some shot creators. Herro has fantastic upside, and we are hoping to see him get back into that playoff form. Herro has been showing his upside recently, and we expect to see it tonight if the Heat have a few injuries.

Once again speculating on potential Miami injuries, we could see a big opportunity tonight for Trevor Ariza. Ariza is a priority if Jimmy Butler is ruled out, who is currently listed as questionable. Ariza is a great play if he ends up in the starting lineup tonight, which is important to watch for who could be getting the big minutes.

Good luck tonight. keep an eye on the starting lineups, as coaches are trying out different stuff right now.
