We are headed to Atlanta tonight for game four of the eastern Conference finals between the Hawks and the Milwaukee Bucks. After a shocking win from Atlanta in game one, the Bucks have taken control of the series with commanding victories in games two and three. We expect to see the Hawks coming out with everything they got tonight, as they need to win this to avoid falling into a three to one hole. We do expect the Bucks to be able to close out the series somewhat swiftly, but this one should stay close. We are looking to a stars and scrubs style roster for tonight, as we want two get to one or two stars from each team here.

Here’s a showdown core For DFS Basketball 6/29/21 (using DraftKings Values)

CaptainG. Antetokounmpo $18,000
Utility
UtilityP. Connaughton $3,200
Utility
UtilityT. Young $10,800
Utility

We really like both superstars on this slate for captain tonight. Giannis Antetokounmpo is who you want at captain for Cash games, and he is a strong option for tournaments as well. Antetokounmpo is much more consistent then anyone else on this slate, and it is not unlikely that he is the highest producer. Antetokounmpo is the most expensive player on this slate, but his price is warranted given that he is in a league of his own in terms of production. Trae Young also looks fantastic at the captain spot here as he has gotten significantly cheaper for this slate. It only costs us $16,200 to captain Young here, so we do have more options with the rest of our lineup. We really like going to Young for captain for tournaments as he is likely going to be rostered less then Antetokounmpo and we can get more upside in our lineup.

It is a similar story for all these Hawks – Bucks games, as we need to squeeze in as many stars as possible without a lot of value options. We have been forced to rely on less enticing and riskier budget plays, as the studs are doing everything this series. We really like getting to Pat Connaughton for tonight, as he has been playing a ton of minutes lately. We saw Connaughton play 32 minutes last game and he played 29 minutes in game one. Game two was a massive blowout where no one played good run. Connaughton is only $3,200 here and he looks good if he is going to play around 30 minutes. He is the cheapest player who has been playing any solid minutes, as his price allows us to get to some of our stars. We are going to need to take a few value plays tonight, and we really want one to be Connaughton as he is a lot less of a risk then some other guys.

We mentioned that we really like going to Trae Young as captain for tournaments, but we want him somewhere on our roster regardless. Young is not that much more expensive than the cheaper studs on the Bucks, but he is playing a much bigger role with much higher upside. Young is playing around 40 minutes a game and he is the Hawks only chance of making this a competitive series. Young shot fourteen three’s last game, and we are going to need him if he shoots it well tonight.

Khris Middleton – ($10,000 DK) Middleton has been showing a ton of upside throughout the playoffs, as we saw from him last game. Middleton exploded for 64.75 FPTS last time out and he has showed upside of 70 FPTS this playoffs. Middleton always plays a huge role and gets a ton of shots up, and he can have a huge game when he is shooting well. However, Middleton also has some variance in the other direction as we have seen him score under 40 FPTS in two of his past three games. Middleton is a solid play here, but we do not expect to see the same upside again tonight.

Jrue Holiday – ($9,400 DK) Holiday has been struggling from the field for most of the playoffs. He has had quite a few bad shooting nights, as we saw last game where he shot two for eleven from the field. Holiday is doing a lot in terms of peripheral stats, as we saw he was able to score 36.5 FPTS on only six real points last game. We still like using Holiday over Middleton here, but either of them could end up being the guy you want. Holiday is $600 cheaper than Middleton however, and the upside is similar if he can get his shooting in order.

Clint Capela – ($8,000 DK) Capela is yet to put together the big game we have been waiting for, but we still like using him as a GPP option. Capela has been showing way too low of a floor for us to go near him in cash games. However, at his $8,000 price tag he can give your lineup a ton of upside if he is able to have a better outing. Capela averaged over 38 FPTS per game this year and we saw he showed a lot of upside throughout the season. He is yet to show that big game this playoffs, but he could be a tournament winning play if he does.

Onyeka Okongwu – ($1,000 DK) Okongwu is a risky play as he could easily play five or less minutes. However, he has been scoring nearly ten FPTS in a lot of his games. We really like getting to a sub $2,000 play tonight as they allow us to play three or four stars. Okongwu is the strongest play in this price range as if he can go for 8-10 FPTS again that will likely be more then enough for him to fit in our lineups.

General strategy

We have had the chance to tackle this slate a few times already so we have some idea of what our lineups will look like before we make them. For cash games and single-entry tournaments, we have a solid approach here. We are looking to captain Antetokounmpo and play him alongside Young and one of Middleton or Holiday. We really like using the two value plays we mentioned as there are not a lot of value options that present enough upside tonight. For tournaments we do not mind getting to a cheaper captain like Holiday, but we still prefer going to one of Antetokounmpo or Young tonight, as those two do have the most upside by far.
