With only one game tonight, we can focus all our attention on game five between the Brooklyn Nets and the Milwaukee Bucks. The first thing we must mention for tonight is the injuries plaguing the Nets. James Harden looks like he will be able to play. However, he will likely be limited, and we know Kyrie Irving is out for this one, so there is going to be a lot of extra shots going around for the Brookyln guys. We are heavier on the Nets side tonight, as that is where we will find value on this slate. We will talk about some core picks for tonight, starting with what we are doing with the captain spot tonight. Furthermore, we will talk about some of our favorite options at both ends of the price spectrum.

Here’s a showdown core For DFS Basketball 6/15/21 (using DraftKings Values)

CaptainK. Durant $18,000
Utility
UtilityJ. Green $4,000
Utility
UtilityG. Antetokounmpo $11,800
Utility

With all the injuries on Brooklyn tonight, we are very firmly going to Kevin Durant in the captain spot. Durant is the only high usage guy left on Brookyln, and he is one of the best scorer’s to ever play basketball. The series is tied 2-2 here, so we expect all of the stars to play massive minutes in this one. There is no doubt that Durant is to see a massive opportunity tonight, and he has the best upside on the slate. We could easily see Durant shoot the ball over 30 times tonight, as this team is so short on options with Irving and Harden out. For tournaments you can try go to a cheaper Bucks stud for captain, but we still prefer Durant. In cash games Durant is who we will be playing at the captain spot.

Jeff Green is a priority for us tonight as a value play. Especially as some of the Nets guards do not look as good if Harden plays. Green is returning from injury tonight, and we expect him to be in for some solid run. Green played 27 minutes last game and he could be in for over 30 minutes tonight. We do not need too much from him at this $4,000 price tag, and he has a solid floor.

Although it takes up a lot of our salary, playing Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo together definitely looks like the best direction tonight. Antetokounmpo averaged over 55 FPTS on the season, and we know he is one of the best producers in DFS. If everyone produces at there average tonight, you will need Antetokounmpo alongside Durant. We expect to see a ton of run from Antetokounmpo tonight, as this is a huge game for between two contenders. Antetokounmpo has a ton of upside as the Nets have a pretty weak frontcourt, and we have stull yet to see his upside in the matchup.

Khris Middleton – ($9,800 DK)If you are playing multiple lineups tonight then we would want to get some exposure to all the studs playing in this one, as they all have a lot of upside. Middleton has had some big games recently and he gives us a lot of savings compared to the studs at the very top. He went for over 56 FPTS recently and we expect him to continue playing over 40 minutes tonight. However, we cannot fit all the studs tonight, and Middleton is not our absolute priority.

Jrue Holiday – ($9,000 DK) Holiday is one of our favorite plays on this slate, as we can roster him at a fantastic price. Holiday is not much more expensive than the midrange guys tonight, as a guy like Joe Harris is only $600 less. Holiday has been underwhelming this series, but we are still interested as we know the opportunity will remain great. We can afford Holiday in the same lineup with Durant and Antetokounmpo, which makes him an easy guy to fit in your roster tonight.

Nicolas Claxton – ($2,400 DK) We like Claxton here as he is so cheap we really do not need him to very much. Claxton has scored over 12 FPTS every game this series, which is all we need to get decent value from him at this price. Claxton has been very productive in his time on the floor, and he consistently plays somewhere between 10-20 minutes.

Mike James – ($4,800 DK) With Irving out tonight and Harden dealing with injuries, there is going to be a lot of minutes that need to be filled in for the Nets. We expect to see some cheap guys get a ton of run tonight, and we really like taking our chances on James at $4,800. James has appeared to be the top point guard option outside of Irving so far, so it is likely he gets the start at point tonight. Regardless, James should be in for a lot of minutes here. We need to go to a few cheap plays tonight, as we want to captain Durant and play two stars from Milwaukee. James gives us some salary savings without having to go to too risky of a play.

General Strategy

We want to use this space as an opportunity to talk about the news that Harden has been switched from out to expected to play this morning. Harden has been out all series and it is going to be interested to see what the Nets rotation looks like tonight. Irving is out instead of James here, so we are still fine getting to guys like Mike James as there will still be some opportunity. However, there is a lot less value on this Brookyln squad then it appeared there would be. Durant is less of a lock for us at captain if Harden can play with no restriction, but we still really like the play. We do not really love getting to Harden here, as he is not that much cheaper than his price before the injury, and it is very unlikely he is 100 percent healthy tonight.
