We have a lot to talk about for tonight’s nine game NBA slate. Right off the bat we have multiple priorities at the top of the slate, so we are looking for value to pay up with. We will continue to have some significant injuries today, and we expect a lot more news to unfold throughout the day. We are going right back to the Sacramento Kings as they should have the same injuries they had last game. Furthermore, we are highlighting some budget plays who have been seeing a lot of floor time. We are going back to the stars and scrubs style build for tonight, as we have a few top end superstars we want to squeeze in.

Here’s a stars and scrubs lineup For DFS Basketball 5/5/21 (using DraftKings Values)

Point Guard
Shooting GuardR. Hampton $4,500
Small ForwardB. Hield $7,700
Power ForwardI. Brazdeikis $3,000
CenterG. Antetokounmpo $10,900
Guard
Forward $3.900
Utility

The Orlando Magic have a lot of injuries right now and a few guys look solid as value plays. RJ Hampton has been on fire lately, scoring 41.25 and 47.25 FPTS in his last two games. Hampton played 35 minutes last game and 30 the minutes the game before that. Orlando have the same injuries going into tonight, so we expect another nice opportunity for Hampton. Hampton is still only $4,500 tonight, so we have a lot of upside here if his role remains for the Magic. The tanking Orlando squad appear to be giving some huge run to the rookie, and we are all over it.

Tyrese Haliburton is out for the season and we expect De’Aaron Fox to remain out tonight. If Fox is out, we are looking to go right back to the Sacramento Kings. Buddy Hield is a top guy for the Kings, and he has seen huge opportunities with all the injuries. Hield has been priced up to $7,700 here, but that is still too cheap for how good he has been with all the guys out. Hield Scored over 45 FPTS last game and has scored over 40 FPTS in three of his past five games. Hield has been taking massive usage, and still crushing on poor shooting nights. Sacramento has a tremendous matchup against the Indiana Pacers, who have become one of the fastest paced squads in the NBA.

The Orlando Magic just picked up Ignas Brazdeikis and he saw huge floor time in his one game in blue. Brazdeikis played 32 minutes and finished with 23.25 FPTS. He is still the minimum price of only $3,000 here, making him one of our favorite value plays as of now. Orlando has a lot of injuries again tonight, and we expect Brazdeikis to see similar run here. We do not need a massive performance out of Brazdeikis, as he allows us to pay up for multiple stars elsewhere. With that said, we expect Brazdeikis to hit some nice value and he has some upside.

Giannis Antetokounmpo against the Wizards is a no-brainer for us. The Wizards are the fastest pace team in the NBA, with some terrible defense. Antetokounmpo is one of the top DFS producers in the league, and he is on a streak of huge games. Antetokounmpo has scored 60 or more FPTS in his last four healthy outings, and he has upside for one of his huge nights against Washington. Antetokounmpo went for 74.5 FPTS a few games ago, and that is the upside we are getting with him. With our lineup we can squeeze in Antetokounmpo at $10,900, as well as another superstar who is also a top priority.

Now what do you get if you sign up now?
• Our second superstar to pay up for.
• Our lock from Sacramento.

Delon Wright – PG ($5,600 DK) Wright was our favorite play on the slate last time around, and it paid off. Wright went for 55 FPTS last game, playing 36.4 minutes as the starting point guard. If Fox remains out for tonight, Wright is a lock again going into tonight. Wright should start again, and he is in for massive run. Even with poor shooting and defensive stats, Wright should be able to hit value here with the all the floor time. However, he has a lot of upside to smash once again. If Fox is not playing tonight, we consider Wright to be a lock no matter what.

Russell Westbrook – G ($11,000 DK) I have been writing about Westbrook so often, I am beginning to dream about him. Westbrook is on a tear that not many players in the history of the game are capable of. Westbrook flew past 80 FPTS last game, and no one batted an eye. Anytime Westbrook has scored below 60 FPTS since March it has been a disappointment by his crazy standards. Westbrook has the best floor in the league, and it is not even close, as his floor is a 50 FPT game every 3 weeks. On the other hand, no one in the league compares to his upside, as he is consistently hitting totals other guys rarely get close to. Westbrook will be highly owned but given how easily he can get to 75 FPTS he is not a guy we like to get away from.

KJ Martin JR – F ($3,900 DK) Martin is cheap for the upside he has been showing lately. In his last five games, Martin scored over 22 FPTS four times and has hit north of 30 FPTS. The Houston Rockets will remain without a few forwards tonight which should mean Martin is in for another nice opportunity. Martin has scored over 30 minutes in each of the last two games, if Martin is to see that run tonight he is one of the better value plays on the slate.

Dean Wade – Util ($3,400 DK) Wade was the last guy in for us, and better value might open throughout the day. However, Wade does look like a solid value option here. He has seen massive minutes recently, playing 30 and 31 minutes in his last two contests. The Cavaliers are missing some front court guys and we expect Wade continues to see decent minutes. He should be able to hit value here, and his price tag allows us to pay up for all those studs.

Here’s a stars and scrubs lineup For DFS Basketball 5/5/21 (using FanDuel Values)

Point GuardR. Westbrook $11,200
Point GuardD. Wright $5,200
Shooting GuardT. Davis $3,800
Shooting GuardG. Allen $3,600
Small ForwardB. Hield $7,300
Small ForwardI. Brazdeikis $4,000
Power ForwardG. Antetokounmpo $11,400
Power ForwardD. Wade $3,900
CenterJ. Embiid $9,400

Terence Davis – SG (3,800 FD) Davis is a fantastic play on both sites if Fox remains out for tonight. He has scored over 20 FPTS in three straight games, and he had a massive opportunity last game without Haliburton. Davis played over 30 minutes last game and scored 25.5 FPTS. Davis is too cheap tonight and an easy play if we see Fox remains sidelined.

Grayson Allen – SG (3,600 FD) Allen is just one game back from injury, but he is too cheap for his production here. Allen is averaging over 20 FPTS on the season and was a lot more expensive than this before getting hurt. He scored 18.5 FPTS last game and we expect his minutes to trend up after the injury. Allen is the last guy we put in, but he does have some nice upside for this price point.

Joel Embiid – C (9,600 FD) Embiid has been underwhelming for his last few games, but that has led to a significant price drop. Embiid has been in a lot of blowouts lately which has limited his production. If this stays close, Embiid can always be one of the top producers on the slate. The price here allows us to play Embiid with Westbrook, Antetokounmpo and other high upside guys like Hield.

Good luck tonight, it is still early while we are writing this, so we expect a lot of news to break before lock. Keep an eye on the news and what opens up.
