This is crazy. Lebron James, Luka Doncic, Anthony Davis, Pascal Siakam, the list goes on. All sidelined. In the years I have been playing DFS I cannot remember a slate in which we had such a grotesque amount of value. We will be playing stars and scrubs today, as that is always the best strategy when this much value is available. Most of our targets tonight will come from the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and the Toronto Raptors. That is because these teams are all missing stars and multiple core players. We have numerous strong plays under $4,000 tonight, so you will have a ton of flexibility with your squad.
Here’s a stars and scrubs lineup For DFS Basketball 3/3/21 (using DraftKings Values)
Point Guard | J. Harden | $11,00
Shooting Guard | T. Davis | $3,400
Small Forward | $6,700 | ||
Power Forward | $6,600 | ||
Center | M. Harrell | $5,500
Guard | $5,300 | ||
Forward | T. Horton-Tucker | $3,400
Utility | $8,100 |
As we mentioned in the introduction, there is a tremendous amount of value to choose from today. In consequence, we will be able to easily roster studs like James Harden for $11,000. Although Harden is expensive tonight, we can pay up for him easily and frankly could open up thousands more in salary if we needed to. If you have played NBA DFS at any point since 2015 you should know Harden is one of the top producers in the league. Harden has been posting constant triple doubles this year, scoring 80 FPTS on one just last game. Harden is averaging 56.3 FPTS a game and should be even more expensive. Harden has been dominant since Kevin Durant went down, and Durant will be out until after the all star break. Harden has the best upside on the slate, which makes him a core play as price is not a problem tonight.
The Raptors are missing five players tonight, including three core starters. Toronto will be our best source of value tonight as all their healthy rotation pieces should see ridiculous minutes. Terrence Davis is one of our favorite targets from Toronto as his ball handling and shot creation will be heavily relied on tonight. Outside of Kyle Lowry and Norman Powell, Davis will be the only raptor capable of creating his own offense tonight. Davis should see more then double his usual minutes and will be a core clog in Toronto’ s offence. Davis is only averaging 12 FPTS a game this season, however the Raptors have not been this gutted once. Expect Davis to dwarf his usual production and is a smash play given the situation tonight.
It is always good for a player’s fantasy production when everyone else who can play there position on the team is injured. That describes the case of Montrezl Harrell. Harrell has been statistically dominant in minutes without Lebron James or Anthony Davis on the court this season. Harrell should be a first or second option for the Lakers without the big stars. Harrell is a core play for us as he is only $5,500, a tag that would be enticing, even if we had a healthy Lakers roster. Harrell should benefit from a dream matchup with the Kings tonight, who we know are the best team in the league to target. Harrell looks great tonight, and his upside is just too good to pass up on at this price.
Staying on the topic of the Lakers, we have another core play in Talen Horton-Tucker. Tucker spends most of his time on the Bench, but he is quite productive in the time he spends on the floor. The lakers are missing their star forwards tonight which should be great for Tuckers floor time. Tucker is only $3,400 tonight, and should easily get the minutes to crush value. Tucker is another smash play as he allows you to pay up without taking on any real risk.
Now what do you get if you sign up now?
• A few midrange options with perfect situations
• More value from teams with a lot of injuries.
• Different options to prepare for the night’s news
Norman Powell – SF (6,700 DK) Powell looks fantastic tonight with all the Missing Raptors. Powell should easily hit 40 minutes tonight, coupled with a solid usage boost. Powell has been balling for the Raptors the last few months, flashing huge upside. Powell has routinely scored north of 40 FPTS and should have a big game tonight. If Powell gets hot he could have a career night here with all the usage that will be coming his way.
Marvin Bagley III – F ($6,600 DK) Barbeque Chicken alert! The Lakers are missing there entire frontcourt today and will be running smaller, weaker big men. Bagley will have a nice size advantage and should be able to dominant these gutted Lakers on the inside. Bagley scored 46 FPTS last game and has crazy upside with this matchup. This game will be played at a fast pace which is great for athletic players like Bagley. Bagley should play huge minutes tonight as the Kings still have a few injuries. Bagley has been priced up a bit today, but as I mentioned earlier, we will have no problem playing for whoever we want.
Jalen Brunson – G ($5,300 DK) Luka Doncic is doubtful for tonight which should open up a ton of opportunity in Dallas. Brunson has been a secondary Ball handler for the Mavericks all season when Luka is active. Brunson should be the dominant ball handler tonight which makes him a smash play at this price. Brunson scored just shy of 40 FPTS last game and will have a lot more opportunity tonight. Brunson is lined up for another big game and is still quite cheap.
Kyle Lowry – Util ($8,100 DK) Lowry is the only healthy member of the Raptors big three. Lowry should have to do a lot tonight if the Raptors want to stay competitive, and he has huge upside in games he takes over. Lowry should shoot the ball every time he has enough energy tonight, and it will be really hard to get away from him at this price. Lowry works well in all lineup types tonight, as he probably has the best upside on the slate with all the injuries.
Alternative Moves…
Damian Lillard – G ($10,600 DK) If you are playing Cash games tonight I definitely like the look of our core lineup as of now. However, if you are looking to change it up Lillard is looking great tonight. Lillard has been a dominant fantasy producer since the other Portland stars went down. With a great matchup against Golden State, Lillard has upside for one of his monster performances.
Have some fun with this one, keep an eye on the news as many more players are listed as questionable.
