We have another interesting DFS slate tonight, as there is a ton of value at the top end of the slate. DraftKings has been very hesitant to adequately price star players, and the key for lineup construction will be jamming in well priced studs. We are targeting a studs and duds style tonight so we can play multiple of the top end superstars. We are looking for budget plays who should see extra floor time due to special situations, as that is how we will find the best value.

Here’s a stars and scrubs lineup For DFS Basketball 3/2/21 (using DraftKings Values)

Point GuardJ. Morant $7,000
Shooting GuardM. Morris $4,600
Small ForwardA. Iguodala $3,800
Power Forward  $11,000
CenterN. Jokic $10,800
Guard  $3,400
Forward  $4,200
Utility         $5,200

Ja Morant hurt us badly last game. With that said, the ability to take a good play despite recency bias separates the men from the boys in DFS. Morant is easily the best play on the slate at only $7,000 and has a matchup with the Wizards. Morant should be the highest owned player by far tonight, but people will likely avoid him as he was disappointing last time out. We know that one bad game has little to no impact on the next game, and this is a textbook DFS play. Morant will be closer to $8,000 very soon and you should buy him low tonight before the price rises.

Monte Morris is another player who was somewhat disappointing last time out, however his role was very promising. We always look to target players who have underperformed for their floor time, as a good game is often in the works. Morris played 33 minutes last game and should have to play similar run tonight. That is just too many minutes for $4,600 and Morris can get hot on offense. If Morris has a good shooting night he can break the slate here, but he should hit value regardless.

In order to play the spend up options we like today, we will have to take more budget players then we would like. Andre Iguodala has been performing well lately and is the type of punt we are looking for at $3,800. Iguodala is a smash play if Jimmy Butler is still out but is a solid option regardless. Iguodala scored 21.5 FPTS last game and has hit value his last five outings. Iguodala is not a super high upside play but he should hit value and gives us a ton of flexibility elsewhere.

At this point in the season, I do not know what needs to be said about Nikola Jokic. Jokic has been the top fantasy producer in the NBA this season and is still way too cheap. Jokic is still only $10,800 which stays true to the pattern this year that DraftKings has refused to price Jokic or Giannis Antetokounmpo over $11,000. Both these studs have been averaging over 60 FPTS a game lately and should be around $12,000. They are the two best value plays you will find as they are way too close in price to other stars, who do not have the colossal floors. Jokic has an exciting matchup against the Bucks tonight. As they play at a fast pace and this one should stay competitive.

Now what do you get if you sign up now?
• Our other core spend up option tonight
• A few strong value plays to create salary
• Different options to prepare for the night’s news

Giannis Antetokounmpo – PF ($11,000 DK) As I just mentioned there appears to be some cap to what DK is willing to price these guys up to. Antetokounmpo has stayed around $11,000, despite averaging nearly 70 FPTS over the last ten days. Antetokounmpo has hit over 60 FPTS in nine of his last ten outings, so his price is a steal anywhere under $12,000. You have probably noticed Antetokounmpo has made our core lineup a lot lately, and it has worked out every single time. We are going to play Antetokounmpo tonight, and we are going to keep playing him until he is priced properly.

Desmond Bane – F ($3,400 DK) Bane is the perfect value play to fit into our  squad tonight. Bane is too cheap for his recent production as he scored well over 30 FPTS last game. Bane is likely to start tonight and should play solid minutes, as the Grizzlies are missing a few forwards. If Bane can have another strong night today, he will be essential for a top-heavy build like this one.

Trey Lyles – F ($4,200 DK) Lyles is a great value target tonight as the Spurs are missing multiple key players. Lyles will likely start tonight and should play massive minutes regardless. Lyles is averaging 20 FPTS over the last ten days and should get a nice boost tonight. This is another paydown option that should hit value and allows us to get something more exciting elsewhere.

Nerlens Noel – Util ($5,200 DK) Noel has been averaging over 40 minutes the past two nights. That is a stupid number of minutes. The Knicks are missing the other two of there three centers once again tonight, so Noel should play big minutes. If you are going to get 30-40 minutes from a center, that is not something you can turn down at this price.

Alternative Moves…

Chris Paul – G ($7,500 DK) Paul has been balling lately and is a go to stud if you’re building a more balanced lineup. Paul is averaging over 40 FPTS over the past ten days and has shown massive upside. Paul scored 50 FPTS in two of his last three matches and always has some real superstar upside. Paul does have a tough matchup tonight but has done well this season in tougher more competitive games.

Have fun tonight and make sure to keep an eye on what value is made available.
