Breaking news has been pouring in all morning for tonight’s seven game slate. A ton of value has opened in the last few hours and we will have a lot of freedom with our lineup. We will be playing studs and duds today, as there is a lot of value to pay up with. Top heavy lineups have been highly effective in games with a lot of injuries this season, as there is a tremendous amount of value at the bottom. Our core lineup highlights players who should be picking up the extra slack with there teammates sidelined.
Here’s a star’s and scrubs lineup For DFS Basketball 2/27/21 (using DraftKings Values)
Point Guard | D. Rose | $5,300
Shooting Guard | J. Nowell | $3,200
Small Forward | L. Walker IV | $4,300
Power Forward | $8,000 | ||
Center | K. Towns | $10,100
Guard | $11,000 | ||
Forward | $4,900 | ||
Utility | $3,200 |
Elfrid Payton is doubtful again tonight, so we will assume he does not play. Derrick Rose is only $5,300 tonight, regardless of his scoring over 30 FPTS in his last two games. Rose played 28 minutes last game without Payton and has upside for a lot more if it stays close. We expect Rose to get the start again which would make his minutes very solid. Rose is a productive fantasy producer whenever he gets decent floor time which will be the case tonight.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are missing both there starting guards tonight and there will be lots of extra minutes going around. Jaylen Nowell is likely to start tonight and should see solid floor time regardless. Priced at only $3,200, Nowell fits easily with his dual position eligibility. Nowell scored over 16 FPTS last game and should get a nice boost tonight. We do not need a slate breaking performance here and Nowell should easily hit value.
Although they are not as much of a smash play as last game, the San Antonio Spurs are still missing multiple key players. The Spurs are still a great source of value tonight, although we will have to be more careful with our selections. Lonnie Walker IV played 33 minutes last game and should see solid floor time again tonight. Walker perfectly matches the missing Spurs positionally and should be forced onto the floor once again. Priced at only $4,300, Walker should crush value with the extra run.
With both the star guards out for Minnesota, it feels like a great spot for Karl Anthony-Towns.Thankfully, Towns appears to have made a full recovery from COVID-19, he has been looking great the last few games. We expect Towns to leave something of a murder scene in Washington tonight, as the Wizards probably have the most disastrous frontcourt defenders in the league. Towns is expensive tonight at $10,100, but everything is lining up for him to be one of the top producers on the slate.
Now what do you get if you sign up now?
• Our favorite star to pay up for
• More players who should see increase run
• Different options to prepare for the night’s news
DeMar DeRozan – PF ($8,000 DK) DeRozan is the only spur who will be returning that was out last game. The Spurs are missing multiple wing players tonight and it is fair to expect huge minutes from DeRozan. This is a fair price for DeRozan, but he should smash value today with some extra run. The Spurs do not have a big rotation today and it is unlikely DeRozan is benched for a lot of the game.
James Harden – G ($11,000 DK) We just got the news that Kyrie Irving is out tonight. Brooklyn will be running Harden and a slew of low usage guys, which is one of our favorite combinations in NBA DFS. The Nets have a good matchup tonight against Dallas who play at a fast pace. Harden is averaging over 60 FPTS a game over the last ten days and should get a huge boost tonight. Harden scored over 68 FPTS in the last game without Irving, and that is the level of production we expect tonight.
Bruce Brown – F ($4,900 DK) Brown is always an easy fit due to his sg/sf eligibility. Brown should get a small boost with Irving out for the nets tonight, which is all we need for him to be a great play. Brown has passed value at this price three days in a row and should keep that up tonight. Brown may take on a bigger scoring role without Irving and has some nice upside.
Tyler Johnson – Util ($3,200 DK) Johnson should receive a huge share of Irving’s minutes tonight. Johnson is averaging 16 points over the last ten days and has way more upside tonight. Johnson played over 30 minutes in the last game without Irving. We expect him to play similar minutes tonight making him a great value option.
Alternative Moves…
Bradley Beal – G ($9,200 DK) The entire Washington vs. Minnesota game is an amazing target for DFS. A few dynamic players and no defense in sight. Beal is leading the NBA in scoring and should easily get his against Minnesota. Beal is underpriced tonight which is the main reason we want to mention him. Also, if you are playing multiple Minnesota guys it is not a bad idea to get some Washington exposure.
Good luck everyone, make sure to keep an eye out in case more news breaks.
