Tonight is going to be all about the stars, as the nine game NBA slate features some of the top DFS producers in the league. The value plays tonight are not as enticing as the stars, but there are some solid budget options if you know where to look. We are targeting an aggressive stars and scrubs lineup today, as we look to gain leverage on the field by including three superstars. We are targeting value playerss who should be in for some extra floor time, to pay up for three of our favorite NBA DFS options.
Here’s a stars and scrubs lineup For DFS Basketball 2/23/21 (using DraftKings Values)
Point Guard | S. Lee | $3,200
Shooting Guard | $3,500 | ||
Small Forward | $4,500 | ||
Power Forward | G. Antetokounmpo | $11,000
Center | $3,200 | ||
Guard | $10,700 | ||
Forward | Z. Nnaji | $3,100
Utility | N. Jokic | $5.300 |
Saben Lee came out of nowhere last game as the main recipient of Detroit’s point guard minutes. Last game is our only real data with Delon Wright out of the rotation and Lee seems to be next in line. Lee is only $3,200 tonight despite scoring 30 FPTS last game. If lee can continue to get big floor time tonight, he is exactly the type of pick we are looking for to fit in our studs. If Lee is starting tonight, he is an absolute lock, but he is a really strong play regardless.
There really is not much that needs to be said about Giannis Antetokounmpo at this point. He is one of the two best fantasy producers in the NBA and has had increased production lately in the absence of Jrue Holiday. Antetokounmpo is $11,000 which is not nearly enough for his floor and ceiling. Antetokounmpo should probably be the most expensive player on the slate tonight given his recent production. Antetokounmpo is averaging 67.7 FPTS a game over the last ten days and has scored over 70 FPTS often lately. Antetokounmpo is our favorite spend up for Cash games as he has an amazing floor.
Zeke Nnaji was forced into playing 30 minutes last game, and we expect the same today as he is still the only active power forward for Denver. Nnaji only scored 11.8 FPTS last game but you must be confident in a little more production in 30 minutes of playing time. Nnaji is only $3,100 tonight and is one of the cheap plays we will need to take in order to fit in multiple stars. We do not need a great performance in this spot, just solid value. Nnaji should be able to put out some production and hit solid value if he gets the start again tonight.
Nikola Jokic was surprisingly disappointing last game only scoring 43 FPTS. However, we are confident chalking that up as an outlier, considering Jokic is averaging over 59 FPTS a game this year. Jokic has a great matchup against Portland tonight, which is what has earned him a spot in our core lineup. Portland is terrible defensively and Jokic should have no trouble stuffing the stat sheet. Jokic is too cheap at $10,800 today. We like stacking studs tonight with Jokic and a few other top end options.
Now what do you get if you sign up now?
• Our number one spend up option tonight
• More value plays who are in great spots
• Different options for different builds
Reggie Bullock – SG ($3,500 DK) Bullock is not a guy who is known to dominate in NBA fantasy. However, he is cheap tonight and has been getting an increased role in New York’s rotation. Coach Thibodeau is known for running out his starters for major minutes. Bullock has played over 30 minutes the last few nights and is simply too cheap for that kind of floor time. If the playtime continues for Bullock, he is the exact type of punt we are looking for tonight.
Bruce Brown – SF ($4,500 DK) Jeff Green will most likely be added to the plethora of sidelined Nets tonight and the minutes look solid for Brown. Brooklyn has the dream matchup with the Kings tonight which usually results in a few extra FPTS for anyone involved. Brown played 34 minutes last game and scored 30 FPTS. We expect Brown to play at least 30 minutes again tonight against the Kings. Brown is cheap and fits in five of your eight roster spots, it is very easy to include him in any lineup.
Aron Baynes – C ($3,200 DK) Basically the only situations in which Baynes gets good run is when the Raptors desperately need his size. That should surely be the case tonight against a massive Philadelphia squad and Joel Embiid. Baynes played about 30 minutes last game against the 76ers and should see similar floor time tonight. $3,200 is simply too cheap for solid minutes from a center. Baynes is the type of play you need to make tonight if you want to maximize your star talent.
James Harden – G ($10,700 DK) Harden is our favorite of multiple great spend up options tonight, as Brooklyn is missing a few key pieces and is matched up against Sacramento. Harden is averaging 64.9 FPTS over the last ten days and has upside that is second to none in the NBA. Harden has that great triple double upside we see on a regular basis and will have to do a little extra of everything tonight. Expect a big night out of Harden in this spot and he is too cheap for the situation.
Alternative Moves…
RJ Barrett – SF ($5,500 DK) Barrett is a great pivot tonight if you want to play a more balanced lineup. Barret is far too cheap tonight and would be in our core build if he fit more into the stars and scrubs style. Barrett scored 31 FPTS last game and appears to be back to huge minutes. With a great matchup against the Warriors, Barret has huge upside tonight at this price.
Have fun tonight, it is a great night to try out a few lineups or spend extra time building the perfect one.
