Today we have a great six game slate to breakdown. It feels like our first contest in weeks that is medium sized. Yesterday’s slate was railroaded with the last game being postponed; we will have to snap back to reality today. I will be playing a studs and duds lineup today to target the elite spend up options.
Here’s a stars and scrubs lineup For DFS Basketball 2/2/21 (using DraftKings Values)
PG R. Westbrook $9,100 (DK)
SG __________ $4,500 (DK)
SF Y. Watanabe $3,700 (DK)
PF __________ $5,100 (DK)
C N. Vucevic $8,200 (DK)
G __________ $7,400 (DK)
F __________ $8,600 (DK)
Util K. Looney $3,400 (DK)
Russell Westbrook appears to be back to playing normal minutes. Which means he is drastically underpriced at $9,100. You would expect Westbrook to be priced up today, considering he scored 73.5 FPTS in his last game. However, his price remains down for another great matchup with Portland. Westbrook is averaging over 50 FPTS this season and is set up for another big game tonight.
There are some great studs to choose from today, so naturally we must find equally strong value targets. One place we can look is Yuta Watanabe, who should continue to see extended run for the Raptors. Watanabe has been playing increased minutes due to the Raptor’s depleted forward rotation. Watanabe has scored over 20 FPTS in his last two games with more minutes and should be on pace to do that today. Priced at $3,700, Watanabe makes it easy to play some of the studs on the slate.
Nikola Vucevic is a core DraftKings play tonight simply because of his price. $8,200 is the lowest tag we have had on Vucevic since the preseason. Vucevic is averaging over 46 FPTS per game this season, scoring 45.5 FPTS in his last contest. Vucevic has a good matchup tonight against Toronto, who do not have the strongest big men. Vucevic is underpriced tonight and will crush value with a decent game.
There are not many guaranteed value plays tonight, but the closest we have is Kevon Looney.Looney is the only healthy center for his team today and is near the minimum price. If you know anything about NBA DFS, that is all you need to hear. Looney scored 23.5 FPTS in his last game with extended run and should be able to do the same thing today. Looney really should hit value here and is a core play for me.
Now what do you get if you sign up now?
• Value plays with huge FPT upside
• My favorite stars to explode tonight
• Different options to lock down GPP’s
De’Anthony Melton – SG ($4,300 DK) Melton is surprisingly cheap considering he scored over 40 FPTS in his last outing. Melton has scored over 35 FPTS in both games since the Grizzlies returned. Melton is way too cheap for his upside tonight and will be a must if he has a big game.
Xavier Tillman – PF ($5,100 DK) Tillman is the final value play I will be highlighting tonight. Tillman will continue to start again and should see even more minutes. Tillman scored over 30 FPTS last game and will have the same opportunity again tonight. Tillman is not the most exciting play, but he has a high floor for the price.
Fred VanVleet – G ($7,400 DK) VanVleet has one of his smallest price tags of the season tonight against Orlando. Expect VanVleet to play massive minutes tonight with a few absent Raptors. VanVleet is averaging just shy of 40 FPTS a game this season and has shown huge upside recently.
Jayson Tatum – F ($8,600 DK) Tatum has been slightly disappointing this season but is still averaging over 45 FPTS per game. Tatum is underpriced tonight even for this season’s production. Tatum has a dream matchup against the Warriors, who are top of the league in pace. Tatum is a core play for me tonight and my favorite spend up option.
Alternative Moves…
Kawhi Leonard – SF ($9,200 DK) Leonard is underpriced tonight as he is averaging over 47 points through the last ten days. Kawhi Leonard has a great matchup tonight against Brooklyn, who have allowed multiple massive games already. Kawhi is another great pay up option to target today.
Jerami Grant– F ($7,000 DK) Grant appears to be coming back down to earth, with a few subpar games recently. However, he has seen his price fall and is still a clear number one option. Grant has monster upside and is averaging just about 40 FPTS this season. A tough matchup against the Jazz is keeping Grant out of my core lineup tonight. However, his price makes him a great GPP play.
