Interesting six game NBA slate today as we already have some important injury news. Yesterday, a ton of news came out of nowhere in the 11th hour. We are going to have to expect late news on every slate this season. However, we have created a lineup that targets picks that should make up your core plays at lock. We will be targeting the Denver Nuggets today, as they have a lot of injuries on there roster.
Here’s a value-based lineup For DFS Basketball 2/16/21 (using DraftKings Values)
Point Guard | D. Lillard | $9,700
Shooting Guard | $3,300 | ||
Small Forward | L. James | $3,300
Power Forward | $3,100 | ||
Center | D. Jordan | $4,500
Guard | $4,400 | ||
Forward | $11,000 | ||
Utility | T. Thompson | $3,900 |
We will be targeting a few top end studs today, as we can find the value to afford them. Our favorite guard to pay up for today is Damian Lillard who has been getting monster usage lately. Lillard is the only star on the injured Trailblazers and he is Portland’s only hope at staying in games. Lillard scored 57.75 FPTS last game and has shown upside in the high 70’s. Lillard will be playing against an Oklahoma City lineup of rookies and sophomores tonight, who have no hope of staying in front of him. Lillard checks every box for a big night tonight and it will not be hard for us to pay up for him.
After Anthony Davis sprained his Achilles in the last game, we were surprised to see Lebron James is still priced at $10,100. Davis’s backups have seen huge price jumps, but James has seen his price drop. James gets a nice usage boost without Davis and will be the driving force of the offence. The Lakers have a great matchup tonight with the Timberwolves, who have no suitable defenders for the King.
DeAndre Jordan is the only center for the Brooklyn Nets. Due to his limitations, he will see huge minute variance based on how desperately Brooklyn needs a big man. Tonight, Jordan should see solid floor time to defend Phoenix Center DeAndre Ayton. Jordan is too cheap at $4,500, considering he seen big minutes the last few games. Jordan has gotten a great minute’s boost without Kevin Durant and should see solid run tonight.
Daniel Theis was just ruled out of tonight’s contest with the Nuggets. Tristan Thompson will be the starting center tonight and should see massive minutes. The Celtics will need a lot of center minutes to match up with Nikola Jokic and Thompson will be first in line. Thompson should be able to crush is $3,900 price tag tonight. Thompson has some nice upside if he gets enough run and he allows us to pay up for multiple studs.
Now what do you get if you sign up now?
• Cheap value from the Denver Nuggets
• Our favorite spend up option on the slate
• Different options to prepare for breaking news
Facundo Campazzo – SG ($3,300 DK) Campazzo should have to play significant minutes for the Nuggets again and remains near the minimum price. Campazzo scored 27.8 FPTS last night in 25.5 minutes. Monte Morris is currently listed as questionable, if he is ruled out Campazzo becomes an even better play. However, Campazzo should be able to crush value regardless of if Morris plays.
Zeke Nnaji – PF ($3,100 DK) I know what you are thinking, who is Zeke Nnaji? He is one of the three healthy forwards for the Nuggets today and is in a great spot for DFS. Nnaji played 23.5 minutes last game, scoring 23.8 FPTS in that time. Nnaji should see more minutes tonight as Paul Millsap has been added to the injury report. Nnaji could play close to 30 minutes tonight and should crush this price tag.
Monte Morris – G ($4,400 DK) Morris is listed as questionable today, so if you are rostering him you will need to watch the news. However, Morris is one of the strongest plays on the slate if he is active tonight. Morris played over 30 minutes and should see similar run if he plays tonight. Morris is still priced cheap and should reliably hit value with the extra playing time.
Giannis Antetokounmpo – F ($11,000 DK) Squeezing Antetokounmpo, James and Lillard into one lineup is not achievable on every slate. However tonight we are giving ourselves huge upside if our value comes through. Antetokounmpo has a great matchup against the Raptors tonight. As a die-hard Toronto fan, it pains me to admit we are not capable of putting a wall up for Antetokounmpo like we used to be. Expect Antetokounmpo to feast on the Raptors frontcourt tonight. Toronto has also been playing at a fast pace recently moving up to 12th in the league. Antetokounmpo has huge upside tonight in a great matchup. This type of lineup build should be at the top of the leaderboards if our three studs ball out.
Alternative Moves…
Hamidou Diallo – G ($6,700 DK) Diallo is still the only true guard for the Thunder. He has had massive upside and multiple 40 plus FPT performances in the last ten days. However, Diallo saw his minutes drop heavily last game and we do not know how much he will play tonight. Diallo should be one of the best plays on the slate if he gets enough run, but we do not know if that will be the case.
Nikola Jokic – C ($10,700 DK) Jokic should have to do even more then usual tonight with all the Denver injuries. Jokic scored 63.5 FPTS and is averaging just shy of 60 FPTS on the season. Jokic is genuinely underpriced at this tag, considering he should be closer to $12,000.
With all the late news lately, I would suggest only going heavy tonight if you can track the injuries before lock.
Good luck everyone.
