NBA DFS Picks for April 2 2021

Fred VanVleet

We have a somewhat difficult 10 game NBA slate tonight. The Pelicans revealed last night that Brandon IngramZion Williamson, and Lonzo Ball were all out for the night’s game. We just got the news a few moments ago that they will all be out again tonight. Furthermore, we have some great value riddled through the rest of the slate. The Toronto Raptor’s are our favorite team to target tonight as they will be without Kyle Lowry and have a favorable matchup with the Warriors. We have built a midrange lineup for tonight, as we wanted to target a few Raptors studs in that price range.

Here’s a midrange lineup For DFS Basketball 4/2/21 (using DraftKings Values)

Point GuardF. VanVleet $8,200
Shooting GuardG. Trent Jr. $5,600
Small ForwardA. Pokusevski $5,000
Power Forward  $7,800
Center  $8,100
Guard  $5,300
Forward  $3,000
UtilityR. Williams $6,700

We are all over the Toronto Raptors for tonight’s slate. Pretty much everyone on Toronto should get a solid boost with Lowry out again tonight. The first guy we want to get to without Lowry is Fred VanVleet. VanVleet usually takes a ton of the extra usage and playmaking with Lowry out and that is what we expect to see tonight. VanVleet is priced at $8,200 tonight, which we are happy to pay for the upside here. VanVleet went for 52 FPTS two nights ago without Lowry and the matchup should be even better tonight. The Warriors play at a fast paced and are not good defensively. VanVleet has massive upside in this spot, and we expect him to the be the first option for Toronto tonight.

Another Raptors player we wanted to highlight is Gary Trent JR. Trent has played three games for Toronto since being traded and he certainly appears to be getting a massive role for the team. In the past two games Trent has played 38 and 36 minutes, scoring 32.5 and 40.5 FPTS, respectively. Trent shot the ball a boggling 22 times last game and it is clear the Raptors plan to give him solid run moving forward. With Lowry out of the lineup again tonight, we assume Trent should be in for another big opportunity against the Warriors. Trent has been slightly priced up to $5,600, however he should still be smashing value if he continues to play this role for Toronto.

Aleksej Pokusevski was out last game but he is not on the injury report for tonight. The Thunder are missing multiple guys tonight and there will be a ton of usage to go around. Pokusevski has been playing solid minutes lately and we expect he sees a nice role tonight. Pokusevski shot the ball 17 times last time around and will be playing with exceptionally low usage players tonight. Pokusevski could be in for a massive game and his price has inexplicably fallen to $5,000. With dual position eligibility it is quite easy to fit Pokusevski into our midrange lineup and someone on OKC is going to need to have a big game tonight.

Robert Williams has become an interesting DFS option since the deadline. Williams has been priced up to $6,700, but we are still interested due to the massive upside he has with his style of play. Williams is the clear center option for Boston since the trade deadline and he has been playing mid 20’s to low 30’s in minutes. Houston is a great pace up spot for Williams he could go for a massive game. He is still cheap enough that he can blow away his price with a big performance on the glass and some blocks in this type of matchup.

Another stud we love getting to on Toronto.
• Potential targets from the Pelicans.
• Access to our core FanDuel lineup!

Pascal Siakam – PF (7,800 DK) Siakam looks great with Lowry out of the rotation as he is still cheap. Siakam was not great last time out but we can not expect him to have only two made field goals. The Warriors are a great pace up spot for Siakam and he certainly has upside for one of his big nights here. We expect Siakam to see solid run at the five in this matchup which makes him an even more enticing target.

Clint Capela – C ($8,100 DK) John Collins is still going to be out for the Hawks tonight and we love going straight back to Capela. We mentioned yesterday that Capela should be asked to do a lot more inside without Collins. Capela went for over 60 FPTS last night and he will be relied on heavily again tonight against New Orleans. Capela typically gets a scoring and rebounding boost when Collins is off the floor. With Collins out again, Capela could be in for another monster performance.

Eric Bledsoe – G ($5.300 DK) We literally just got the news that the Pelicans will be without Ingram, Williamson, Ball and Josh Hart tonight. The Pelicans have now passed even Toronto as our favorite Target on the Slate and you will absolutely need multiple plays from New Orleans tonight. Bledsoe is going to be one of the only competent players for the Pelicans tonight. We saw last night that only three players were at all capable of creating offense for New Orleans and one of them is now out in Hart. Bledsoe went for 36.8 FPTS last night and could easily be in for even more tonight. This is a no brainer; play pelicans and we do not have too many options to choose from.

James Johnson – F ($3,000 DK) With the news we just got out of New Orleans Johnson becomes one of our favorite options on the slate. We do not have a lot of cheap value tonight, but Johnson gives us a minimum price play who should be in for a good game. Johnson went for 28.8 FPTS last game and frankly we expect something similar tonight. At this price it is hard to even fathom a path to Johnson terribly hurting us tonight. He is a smash play.

Here’s a midrange lineup For DFS Basketball 4/2/21 (using FanDuel Values)

Point GuardE. Bledsoe $5,200
Point GuardL. Doncic $10,500
Shooting GuardF. VanVleet $7,400
Shooting GuardG. Trent $5,200
Small ForwardJ. Brown $7,700
Small ForwardG. Hayward $7,000
Power ForwardJ. Johnson $3,500
Power ForwardA. Pokusevski $5,300
CenterC. Capela $7,800

Luka Doncic – PG (10,500 FD) A lot of our core plays tonight are egregiously underpriced on FanDuel. As a result, we have a ton of salary and certainly want to land on a stud with massive upside. Doncic fits perfectly as we know he has massive upside. Doncic has some of the best upside in the league and he could be in for a massive performance any night. A big game from Doncic would be the perfect use for our extra salary.

Jaylen Brown – SF ($7.700 FD) The Celtics are all cheap tonight, and they have a great matchup against the Rockets. With all the value opportunities it is not likely we see too much ownership land on a guy like Brown. We have highlighted a few picks that will likely be high ownership, so getting to a high upside stud who may be overlooked can help us a lot.

Gordon Hayward – SF ($7.000 FD) Hayward was disappointing last night but that was the product of terrible shooting in a blowout. Hayward is still going to be taking high usage for the gutted Hornets squad and his price on FanDuel is great. Hayward has showed us some serious upside lately and at this price he has some real optimal lineup potential.

Good luck tonight everyone, keep in mind we just slid a few Pelicans into our lineup as we just got the news. I would feel good playing three or four guys and getting a lot of exposure to Nickeil Alexander-Walker.
