We are back to the more standard NBA slates, as we have seven games to break down tonight. A few huge names have been ruled out of tonight’s contest and we have more then enough value to play around with across the seven games. We just got the news that James Harden is going to be out tonight. Brooklyn will be one of our favorite teams to target along with the Hawks and the Clippers, who are also missing key guys tonight. We are looking to play a stars and scrubs roster today, as we have great value plays to create salary with.
Here’s a studs and duds lineup For DFS Basketball 4/1/21 (using DraftKings Values)
Point Guard | K. Irving | $9,800
Shooting Guard | L. Kennard | $4,200
Small Forward | G. Hayward | $7,900
Power Forward | $3,200 | ||
Center | $7,700 | ||
Guard | $5,300 | ||
Forward | $7,600 | ||
Utility | I. Hartenstein | $3,700 |
As we mentioned James Harden has already been ruled out for tonight’s game. There is going to be a ton of usage and shot creating responsibilities going around for the Nets, and they will only have one guy tonight who likes to take shots. Brooklyn is going to live or die by Kyrie Irving tonight, as he should be taking the lion’s share of the usage without Harden. The Nets have a great matchup against the Hornets tonight, and the upside looks fantastic for Irving. Irving went for over 60 FPTS last game as he benefited from playing the fourth quarter without Harden. Irving will be controlling the offense for the entire game tonight and he has the best upside on the slate as of now.
The Clippers announced last night that Paul George will remain out for tonight’s contest against the Nuggets. Luke Kennard has seen a massive minute’s boost when George was out in the past, and he is one of our favorite value options at only $4.200. Kennard played north of 30 minutes in the past two games without George, and he was able to smash value at this price in both contests. Kennard has great upside if his shot starts to fall but he should be good for solid value here regardless.
The Hornets are still undermanned tonight and will be in a fast pace shootout with the Brooklyn Nets. Gordan Hayward has been seeing massive opportunities as of last and we expect that to continue tonight. Hayward has been taking massive usage and showed us a taste of his upside last game when he hit nine of his nineteen shots and went for over 50 FPTS. Priced at $7,900 Hayward is cheap for the opportunity and has a lot of room for upside with a big night.
Along with Kennard, another one of our favorite budget plays tonight is Isiah Hartenstein. Hartenstein is still priced at only $3,700, which makes him a smash play as he will likely start at center again tonight. Hartenstein started at the five for an injured Cleveland squad last game and we are expecting a similar story here tonight. Hartenstein went for 35 FPTS last game in 26 minutes. If he is to start again, it is hard to envision him disappointing us here.
Now what do you get if you sign up now?
• Our favorite plays from the Atlanta Hawks,
• Another midrange guy with huge upside from the L.A. Clippers.

Solomon Hill – PF (3,200 DK) We already have the news that John Collins is going to be out for the Hawks tonight. There is going to be a lot of extra run going around Atlanta, especially at the power forward position. We can roster Hill at nearly minimum price on DraftKings tonight and he should be in for a nice chunk of Collins minutes. Hill is not a dynamic DFS producer, but we have seen him play massive minutes without Collins before and we do not need much at this price. Hill started the second half for Collins last time out and he could be in for the start tonight. Regardless, Hill should easily see enough minutes to hit value here.
Clint Capela – C ($7,700 DK) Along with Hill, Capela is the guy on the Hawks we are extremely high on tonight. Capela and Collins have somewhat similar responsibilities on the court, and we expect Capela to see a nice usage boost without Collins. Capela will be the clear option as the roll man and on the block and we expect his scoring and rebounding both see some boost today. We were already getting Capela at a fairly good price as he is averaging 39.8 FPTS per game on the season, and he looks phenomenal with Collins out of the lineup.
Reggie Jackson – G ($5.300 DK) Jackson looks fantastic without George tonight, as we have seen him step up when the big dogs are out for the Clippers in the past. Jackson saw a massive role without George last time out as he played 34 minutes and shot the ball 18 times. Jackson finished with 31.75 FPTS. If Jackson is to see similar run tonight, he has upside for an even bigger performance with a good shooting night.
DeMar DeRozan – F ($7,600 DK) We are getting DeRozan at a solid price here and the Spurs have cut some high usage guys at the deadline. DeRozan went for 42.75 FPTS last game and we have seen him go for much more on his good nights. The Spurs have a great matchup with the Hawks tonight and we could see a nice scoring night from DeRozan.
Here’s a midrange lineup For DFS Basketball 4/1/21 (using FanDuel Values)
Point Guard | K. Irving | $10,000
Point Guard | R. Jackson | $5,000
Shooting Guard | D. DeRozan | $7,700
Shooting Guard | L. Kennard | $4,700
Small Forward | G. Hayward | $7,000
Small Forward | R. Hachimura | $6,000
Power Forward | I. Hartenstein | $4,000
Power Forward | J. Grant | $6,600
Center | C. Capela | $8,500 |
Rui Hachimura – SF (6,000 FD) Hachimura has been fantastic for the Wizards lately. He has scored over 37 FPTS in each of his past two games and he has been playing mid 30’s to low 40’s in minutes consistently. The role that Hachimura plays for this team has been increasing consistently recently and his price will likely rise even farther. Hachimura has been smashing lately and he is a lock for us if Bradley Beal is still out.
Jerami Grant – PF ($6.600 FD) We love paying this price tag to roster Grant. He has massive upside and is the clear first option for Detroit. The Pistons are missing multiple bodies and Grant will surely be relied on heavily. Grant went for 49.4 FPTS last game and always get the usage for that kind of performance. Grant has a dream matchup against Washington tonight which makes him a smash play at this price.
Good luck tonight everyone, have fun watching MLB opening night!
