It is almost easier to list all the players that are playing than the ones sidelined here, as tonight’s eight-game DFS slate is absolutely riddled with injuries. The Portland Trailblazers are without Anfernee Simons tonight, which is massive as he was their last high usage player available. We also know that the Golden State Warriors are resting their three top guys in Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Andrew Wiggins, so we will have a ton of value from the Warriors as well. For spend-up options, we really like the Miami Heat tonight, who stand to benefit from a fantastic matchup against the Houston Rockets.

Here’s Two Core Plays For DFS Basketball 3/7/22 (using DraftKings Values)

Point GuardB. Williams $3,800
Shooting Guard
Small ForwardJ. Butler $8,500
Power Forward
Center
Guard
Forward
Utility

With all the injuries on Portland tonight Brandon Williams is a lock for value. Williams played 27 minutes and went for 26.5 FPTS in the last game, and that was with Simons playing 40 minutes. We expect Williams to start and see a ton of floor time tonight, so he looks fantastic at only $3,800. Someone is going to have to score for Portland, and Williams is a good candidate as anyone to be that guy. We have a lot of options for value tonight, but Williams really stands out.

As we mentioned in our introduction the Heat are in a great spot tonight with this matchup against the Rockets. Kyle Lowry also remains sidelined, so there are fewer cooks in the kitchen on offense. Jimmy Butler is a priority for us in this spot, as he is a perfect fit in our lineup tonight. He works great as a spend-up option that allows us to save the guard spots for budget plays. He also has a ton of upside whenever Lowry is out, which is what we are looking for tonight. Butler is coming in at a great price of $8,500 tonight, one of his lowest price tags of the season.

Here’s a Fade DFS Basketball 3/7/22 (using DraftKings Values)

Nikola Vucevic has one of his lowest price tags of the season, which would usually make a guy a target for us. However, Vucevic has been generally overpriced on DraftKings this season, so his price tonight is more fair than too cheap. He also has a hellish matchup against Joel Embiid tonight, which is just about the worst spot possible for opposing centers.

Point Guard

Jordan Poole – ($5,300 DK) Poole is a complete no-brainer whenever Curry is off the floor, so he is a lock for us tonight without Curry, Wiggins or Thompson. Poole is averaging 27.6 FPTS on the season as a whole and have seen him show remarkable upside in spots when Curry and Wiggins were rested. Poole could be $2,000 more expensive and we would still be all over him in this spot.

Shooting Guard

Keon Johnson – ($3,900 DK) The Portland Trailblazers barely even have enough bodies to play a game tonight, so there is a lot to like for cheap value. Johnson started last game, and it would be surprising if that is not the case again tonight. The rookie showed some nice flashes in the opportunity, going for 28.5 FPTS. We expect him to see more run tonight, so the upside is massive here at only $3,900.

Small Forward

Damion Lee – ($3,400 DK) Lee stands out among many fantastic value options from the Warriors tonight, as he offers us a ton of upside at only $3,400. Lee should start here given the lack of options in the Warriors backcourt. He was great last night with 27.5 FPTS in 27 minutes, and that was with the Warriors studs playing. Lee is another no-brainer at this price, as it is hard to imagine him disappointing us in this spot.

Power Forward

Jonathan Kuminga – ($4,500 DK) Staying with the warriors, Kuminga is another priority here with all the top dogs on the sideline. Kuminga has been solid over the past few weeks, and we often see him take over in blowouts. He should be in for solid run tonight whether it stays close or not, and we have high expectations for his usage given who he will be sharing the court with.

Center

Bam Adebayo – ($8,700 DK) It will be very easy to find the salary to include Adebayo with all of our cheap priorities tonight, and he looks great in this matchup. Adebayo should be able to absolutely feast against the Houston frontcourt, as we have seen him drop some big games over the past week or two. Adebayo has been making the most of easy matchups as of late, so he is very enticing against Houston here.

General strategy

This is a great slate if you are playing Cash games, as you will have five or six easy locks for your lineups. We can plug in Williams, Poole, Johnson, and Lee into every Cash lineup and then go from there. We really like spending up for Butler and Adebayo in Cash as they should be popular with a great matchup. For tournaments, we are looking to get more contrarian with our stars tonight, as you just can’t get away from some of these value options. James Harden, De’Aaron Fox, and RJ Barrett are all great GPP targets as they should go low owned with massive upside.
